That you have a funny nose... and are not an attractive child....even today when I am told that I am so, I find so hard to believe. I even went into crazy relationships because of that...be very careful of what you tell a child, it can mark them for life

Never let anyone get you down or see your vulnerable side.
Needless to say I am a very sensitive person but I have issues with allowing people see my vulnerability. I always pretend to be okay, nothing is wrong, etc. If I am upset I have to be left alone until I met my husband .. he is the only one that was able to see that side of me. I am slowly working on it ... especially after the death of my son I have found that I can not control when I cry anymore.
Hugs from a Loving Mom to a Brilliant, as well as beautiful 8 year old Jared and Our Angel, Zachary (taken to soon but who will always remain in our heart) ~ Mel

I have had health problems since I was born-heart problems, ear problems, asthma, cleft palate, etc.-and one day when my mom was angry, she said, "You can't do anything!" which hurt my feelings. The doctors told my mother that, too, which is kind of infuriating. Now I decide what I am good at and what I am not, but it still hurts my feelings, and occasionally my family still says things like that. I mean, if I can survive an open heart surgery at 18 months old, I think that says a lot about my character, right?

That God will punish you for every sin in this life and the next. That had me paranoid for many years.
I had to wake up one day and realize that I'm not a murderer or a rapist, nor am I violent or a horrible person when things started to go really wrong in my life. I had to realize that everyone sins and that bad things that happen are not necessarily payback for anything. It's just life. Bad things happen to everyone - good or bad.

My sperm donor father told me he wished that I had been born a boy...made me feel unloved for many years, even though my mother always doted on me.
