Primitive are campsites that are just that, a spot of ground level enough for a tent. No hook ups.
Improved are campsites that are those with water and elect. hook ups. They can be used for tents or campers.
Drive ins are ones that you can use when you are camping with a tent or a camper, but if using a camper, you have to back it in. Pull throughs are campsites that you can pull right through and back out the other side so you don't have to back anything up. (really handy if you are new to driving a camper or if you are towing a pop up.

as far as i know, there are two types. primative and, improved.
a primative site has nothing but, a shelter, fire ring and, parking space.
an improved site, has a shelter, fire ring, parking space, water faucet and, electrical hookups.
