yes I have, it was when I was about 8 years old and it was because my mom was in a very bad mood. It is something that I will never forget. I am now 54 years old and just reading the question triggered the memory

Yes. The cord was doubled over. It left marks on me for a long time.
At the time, I did not consider it cruel or unusual since most children in the African-American community were punished using a variety of instruments such as: switches, razor straps, belts and the extension cords.
Today, my parents would arrested for child abuse and would probably be less disciplined.

There is spanking (hand, smooth belt, MAYBE a slipper), and there is abuse. An extension cord pretty much falls under the abuse category.

Nope nope no way! A belt maybe twice, smacked on my hand like a million times and yelled at alot but no extension cords!

no but I have been spanked with a switch (tree branch). That s%it hurts especially the skinny ones. did you ever have to pick out your switch or did you just get whippins with extension cords?

yes. this was common when i was growing up. It did hurt. I could never use that . My mom was going through alot back then. I am an adult and got over it. Spankings were given out of love. I believe as an adult you should not be bother about it. It was then and this is now.

my parents never yelled at me not even one time;i don't remember my mother ever hitting me i lost her in the age of 8 and my father hit me 2 or 3 times because i deserved it,only to scare me,he only hurt me one time by accident and nothing big i guess i was lucky i had good parents but i was afraid of my father he dint have to repeat him self,my kids i have to ask and ask and ask sometimes i have to get angry at them and still get a bad attitude from them mostly from one of my sons,its all different know.

No my father used to use a thick leather belt with studs on it. I still shudder if I see the old belt he used to use.
