I don't have issue with Mexicans as a race. The problem is that they want to live here but still live like and BE Mexicans. You just can't do that. Someone said they were burning our flag. Someone else said it was because we burned theirs. I see it this way: we didn't go to THEIR country and burn THEIR flag. People keep saying our forefathers were illegal immigrants. No, they weren't. What law did they break? They weren't illegal ANYTHING. People keep saying this country was founded by immigrants and with the principle of immigration in mind. That is true, but those people came here to BE Americans, not live here, use up the resources while still claiming their "homeland" and then return to it to live better than they could if they stayed there all the time. They actually WERE immigrants and you can't call these people immigrants because they don't want to stay here. You can only call them squatters. Or thieves. Is this right?

I wasn't able to fit my whole post. It also said that I am against ALL illegal immigrants, no matter what color or nationality they are. Also, if you live where they speak English and don't fly their flags, you are lucky. Here it is not like that at all. It is turning into Little Mexico here and that is not an exagerration. I live in the DC Metro area, FYI.

I agree: we are giving them jobs and that is why they are here. As far as the flag, maybe you wouldn't feel it was "petty" or just an object if you knew how many people have died so you could f*cking say that. You have the rights you have because of that flag and the men who have died to protect it, make no mistake about it. Remember this the next time you express your opinion FREELY. Saying that burning our flag is petty is like spitting on the soldiers who have died to keep this country free. And it's our laws and regulations that KEEP this country great. Go live somewhere else just a little while and you will see what that means.

No, you are not right. The mexicans that I know in northern California are members of society just like me. I don't see the mexican flag and everyone I meet speaks at least some english. They are coming here for a better life and they of course love their culture, their heritage and their roots.

I know Irish women who are here all year and then "return home" to Ireland for the summer. I know a french woman who does the same thing. Time was (in the 90s) when English programmers would come here to work as consultants in the computer field in America and their plan was very publically to be here, see America, make a lot of money and head back to england, no one gave them a hard time - and they positively blanched at July 4th celebrations. And how many foreign students do we have in our colleges & universities? Arabs, Indians, Asians, Europeans - all here to get an education and then either go home or take a job that an American could do, right? Or they become Americans.

The bottom line is that the Government is throwing up this issue as a smoke screen to deflect the voting population away from important issues that are going on today. Particularly this close to an election. Mark my words, when the election is over, so will this issue be and nothing will have changed - they will simply stop fanning the fire.

Peace!

As for burning the flag, so what... its a peace of cloth, a symbol, an object, and I think it is petty.

"illegal" immigrants, no our forefathers didn't break laws, but they were also hated when they immigrated as well. The Irish, the Jews, the Asians and Arabs, they were all hated and tormented when they immigrated, but they didn't break any laws. it still continues to this day with other racial groups. Its just frustrating that there is always a new race to blame for our failures as a country, which is an ignorant way to view things. Many of the Mexicans do the jobs that we wouldn't, for little pay. Who is paying them? We are, we are giving them jobs, we are eating the fruit and veggies that they pick, etc. So, they may return to Mexico, but its not like we don't benefit from them being here. Many of them barely have enough food to eat as they pick our food all day long and ****, so we have ample supply when we go to the grocery store. If our country is truly "free" then let them be.
