In my local hospital there are hundreds of phipipino nurses, I have worked with them and I think they are extremely good. However, they are tret like donkeys in the workplace.

If an essential worker went to a country where there was a real shortage and not enough locals to fill the posts, would the essential workers be met with the same negitivity that other imigrants get ?

We aren't negative about immigrants, only about those who ignore our legal limits and strain our schools and services so they no longer serve our own people. Essential people who come legally are budgeted for, or should be.

I have no problem with them.

I do not have knowledge of how Philippine nurses are treated but I cannot believe it is anything but terrible. I have worked in the Philippines and have had the privilege of knowing and working with people from that country.

Ironically I find them to be as a whole the finest people I have known, smart hardworking loyal. Historically my grandpa can tell you amazing and courageous stories of the Filipino Resistance This is politically correct to say but it is true; the women from that country are beautiful, if I was a single man that is where I would be.

For some reason there is a bias against them that I cannot explain

There shouldn't be a shortage of nurses in this country. We should have seen it coming and trained more. We have always done it before, why not now? Also, those Philippino nurses are probably needed back home, more than they are here. Britain, is a mature democracy with a large population and plenty of good universities. WHY DO WE NEED TO IMPORT FOREIGN WORKERS?

sadly, probably not. i think it's wonderful that filipinos can come here and fill the nursing jobs we so desperately need to fill. i think people just treat them with such hostility because the qualifications in the philippines are different (probably easier to obtain) than those here, and people are bitter about it. personally, i think that is stupid.

Unfortunately Filipino nurses are in short supply in the Filipines. We've poached them.
