Over the last several weeks I've suddenly developed this weird speech thing where I will reverse words and/or the first letters of words. For instance I will mean to say "I watched a match tonight" and what will actually come out is "I matched a watch tonight." Or I will mean to say "Peter Rabbit" and I will say "Reter Pabbit". Anyone know whats up with this? I have no other symtoms. No headaches, no sign of a stroke, nothing. I'm 38 years old. Thanks

Didn't get hit in the head and not sleep deprived (this is kind of an iffy one since I have a toddler that wakes up once a night but I settle her back down and go right back to sleep - get at least 8 hours total - that's good enough right?) Just wondering what the heck is going on.

For certain you should see a dr. But are you getting enough sleep or experiencing stress? At least see your regular family Dr. but ask to see a specialist if symptoms persist and the reg. Dr. doesn't seem concerned. Think about all of your symptoms and possible causes so when your Dr. tries ruling out things you will have thought about it. Speech "disorders" such as this can be attributed to many things. Did you get hit in the head?

Wow! I can't believe this question, this happened to me last year. Out of the blue sudden dyslexia like you describe both in words and in pressing buttons (open vs close) etc.

PLUS other oddities like forgetting how to spell words, saying a incomprehensive word in the middle of a sentence.

Here is a partial diary I created for my Neurologist:

Get in the bear. (car)
If I haven't told him wice(once)
Scuttered Thunderstorms(Scattered)
Most prized assession (possession)
Show you in frack of Frankie(front)
Get the dog lease(leash)
Sear I saw(Swear)
Contass Doctor(contact)
Infor - mace - on(information)
THAT I can mamember(remember)

The Vet important is appointment.
(The Vet Appointment is important)

The rounded kind is good for flat people
(The rounded kind is good for blind people) (speaking of cell phone buttons)

I gotta make a few quit phone calls (quick)

"Don't mock me mow-ver"
(Don't knock me over)

WRITING

Suddenly hard to spell simple words, but some are fine.

Suddenly Dyslexic -- I am told one letter on hte phone and write a different one down
(Someone tells me a phone number, they say 5, I write down 3.)

Nurse on phone: She gave me an appointment for 7/11 at 2:15.

I wrote the date down as 2/15.... then I fixed it to 6/15, then 7/15, then 7/11

I try to write:

I have to start ge kepping a hoggy
(I have to start keeping a diary)

I STILL don't know why this problem came and went!!! However it was discovered that I was life threateningly low on Potassium since I was taking a diaretic drug for high blood pressure.

They rushed me to the emergency room and I got my potassium, and when I look back I wonder if the two were connected.

If not, since I got the OK from the Neurologist, it could be a side effect of the medications I take for Fibromyalgia, bi-polar, and sleep disorder?

This could be a sign of many medical symptoms. You need to see a doctor.

You need to see a neurologist.
There are a lot of different neurological diseases that this could be related to, and you need to have a full work up.

You should let your doctor tell you. I first of all thought stroke but an MRI would show that. It could be lots of things. Good luck in the hospital.
