I used to feed my dogs IAMS but i saw Natural Balance at a new pet supply store I went to. I purchased a large bag and some of their logs and started using it today. I know some websites say its good but what is everybodies take on it? What are your experiences with it? I paid $40 for a 35lbs bag. Is that about right for those who use it? Give me your info or advice.

I've been using Natural Balance for my German shepherds for years. I switched over from Nutro Lamb and Rice after a bad experience with their canned food. Nutro has two canned lamb and rice formulas. Only the "original" canned does not contain other protein sources. When the second one came out on the market, it just said "Lamb and Rice." I thought they had just changed the label. I learned this the hard way after my shepherd with allergies started scratching again like crazy and was miserable. The company's response was to send me a coupon for $3.00 with no explanation or apology.

Sorry about the Nutro rant. Can you tell I'm still a little ticked at them! :( Anyway, that's when I started doing my homework and started using the Natural Balance. It's an excellent food. My dogs love it and have done very well on it. One of our vets actually switched her dogs over to it, too.

Dog food is a ver controversal issue but here are some good facts - Natural Balance is an excellent food because the protein sources used are human grade, and they do not use growth hormone or antibiotics or any filler products - the grains are organically grown and free of perticides and chemical fertilizers, the vegetables are also organizally grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Too many of the commercially available dog foods today contain things that we would throw in the garbage like chicken feet and chicken beaks and internal organs - some of the protein sources can be rotted and or diseased and if the animal was treated with growth hormones or received antibiotics, those chemicals are included in the commercial foods. All these chemicals in the dogs food has strated to create problems in many dog breeds,
dogs with allergies to corn, dogs with hot spots on their coats,
dog with skin issues - increased incidences of cancers and tumors =

Many dog owners swear that after switching their dogs over to a human grade organically grown dog food, their dogs allergies were cured or at least considerably improved, the hot spots faded, their coats became mmore shiny and silky, the dogs general health improved and dogs have started to live longer and we are seeing decreases in cancer rates, decreases in tumors and in arthritis. Dogs seem to stay yonger feeling for longer - instead of the mean average for a dog being 10, we could look to improve that number to 16 - adding 5 to 6 years of healthy added life to the average dog.

I think the additional quality of these new human grade dog foods, and there are several to choose from, are an excellent choice for todays dogs. Better quality food means a healthier dog. I am glad to see these new quality foods coming to the stores and my hope is that all commercially made dog food will either go out og business or will match the quality that these new dog food companies are making available today.

I have been feeding Natural Balance for 3 years. I have had great results with both my cats and my dog.

My dog has food allergies, and I switched because their Duck & Potato was a good choice for her, but she prefers the Venison & Brown Rice. Skin and coat are in great shape.

You will find this to be a much higher quality product than the one you were feeding before. A 17 pound bag lasts my 75 pound dog about 5 weeks.

Natural Balance is a very good food, one of the best ones out there. I used to feed it to my dogs before I switched them over to a food that is grain free. :o)
