Noah was told by God(because he was a righteous man) that the earth was going to be destroyed by water because man was exceedingly wicked. God told Noah to build the ark, by the specifications that God had given and to place the animals (2 of every with the exception of those that were sacrificed 7) and his family on the ark.
He did as God commanded. God closed the ark doors and after 40 days and 40 nights of rain from the sky and watersheds breaking from the earth subsided, he waited until he was sure there was dry land then he, his family and all creatures left the ark. He built an altar and made a sacrifice to God. God told his family to be fruitful and multiply. Which they did.

within the confines of the Old Testament and scripture, Noah was best known for that whole building the ark, two by two business.
But other historical texts of the time show that Noahs true calling was as a night club ventriloquist.
Its said that Noah headlined for 6 straight months at the Pharoah's Palms Casino in what is known today as United Arab Emirates, with his popular act "Noah and Shekkie, the second-born pharoahs son" I hear it was a riot!

Building a really large boat and filling it with all kinds of animals. He was righteous and the rest of the population was evil, so God spared Noah and his family, the rest perished in the flood. When the flood was over, God put a rainbow in the sky to show his promise of never again sending a flood to cover the earth.

After disembarking from the ark, he got drunk, passed out and was seen uncovered by one of his sons.
In his righteous (?) anger, he then condemned the son of that son to slavery for the rest of forever.
That is what I think of when I think of Noah.... this is the man God felt was righteous enough to save....
And people wonder why I don't like that book.
