this is going to sound crazy but I bought my yorkie for $1,800. When i went to the breeder, he came running out (he practically picked us) and I was so smitten that I took out my check book and wrote the check right there and then and never looked back since. i know, people roll their eyes when I tell them but i love my yorkie to death and would do it again in a heart beat...although I do joke with him sometimes saying "Charlie, I want a full refund with interest too" and then i kiss his nose and say "just kidding". then my husband and I joke that we're gonna sell him on e bay and then we laugh knowing how much we love him and how that would NEVER HAPPEN. he is a cutie by the way...hehehe
oh and females go for even higer...starting at $2000. I wanted a male yorkie though, even though I put bows in his hair and feel like buying him dresses sometimes. everyone thinks he's a girl and i tell them that the's metrosexual!!!

$23 from the city pound.
All my other pets have "found" me over the years.
I would never buy a dog or a cat. There are too many good animals waiting for homes at the city pound or through animal rescue groups. Many times these shelters have purebred pets.
Sorry to sound preachy, but I really don't think it's right to buy animals.

I have resuced from shelters and spent like $80. Then had to spend $850 to cure the parvo she picked up at the shelter. So I guess I spent over $900.

Not much. My animals are either given to me free (by friends and relatives who can't take care of them anymore) or I rescue them at the shelter on the cheap.
The only expensive animal I would consider is a pure breed Devon Rex. They are so cute and very costly. (upwards of $700 dollars for a kitten) Unfortunately, I am currently unemployeed college student, so that will have to wait.

When I buy a dog, I'll go to the county kennel & pay $50.00.
I just can't see paying any more than that for a dog!! My daughter works at a pet store , & let me hold a miniature fox terrier. I fell in love with her but wont buy her for $800.00. So I'll wait for a mutt from the kennell
