Basically what I am asking is if the bible says it it must be true right? You don't believe some of the stories in the bible are there for the "Moral of the story"? If the bible says it does it mean thats the way you should live your life? Arn't we supposed to look at god, be like him act like him in everything we do? How come people who believe in the bible don't do everything the bible says? Just what they want to do?

the bible is not the word of god, it is the word of man inspired by god. the only problem with this divine inspiration is that human inspiration can get in the way, so on a lot of the stuff in the bible think it through, use your sense of right and wrong, if you get stuck on something get outside opinions then decide for yourself. I'm not just directing this at the person who asked this question but at everybody who reads the bible. Just remember that the bible is an instruction manual to being a good person.

Rom 3:4, Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar.

Having said that yes the bible is true and accurate. Though there are parables, and illustrations. Many of the 'stories' people call fables in the bible really happened.

Jesus believed the creation account. He refered to the first marriage (Matt 19:4)

Why do people then have their own religion?

2 Tim 4:3, people will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled.

Acts 20:29 oppressive wolves will enter in among you ... and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves.

Matt 24:5 in the last days false prophets will arise and mislead many.

Instead of listening to what the bible actually says many want to interpet it.

They pick and choose the verses they want.

Heb 4:12 the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper thatn any two-edge sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit

John 12:47, 48 The word that I have spoken is what will judge him in the last day.

1 John 2:6 He that says he remains in union with him is under obligation himself also to go on walking just as that one walked.

Even though we are imperfect, we need to strive to live by the bible, honestly looking at what it really says not by what we want it to say.

The Bible is to be taken literally, not figuratively. These stories are not in the Bible for our amusement.

People who believe what the Bible says, like myself, do not do everything that the Bible says to do because we ALL fall short of the glory of God.

That is in the Bible.

The whole Bible is correct. We should live according to what the Bible says. However, even if one is a Christian, he still is not completely free of sin. Only when we get to heaven will we be free of sin. So there are many people who are Christians and don't do what the Bible says because of our sin. Hopefully, Christian men and women will be more conscious of their sin and also follow what the Bible says more closely as they grow in their Christian life. I know that there are a lot of times that I do not live up to the standards that God has given to me in the Bible. I confess my sin and try to not do that again. The difference is, when I was not a Christian, my sin did not bother me, but I have a deeper sensitivity to it now, and I hate sin and want to live by God's standards.

The inborn trait of a human being is to " Do as I say, but don't do as I do " We are very good at giving advice but very bad at following. We know that the Bible is the Word of God and has to be followed through at every step of our life, but the Devil is strong. He prevents us from following the Word of God and gives us plenty of reasons not to follow. And we simply fall into his trap. We question everything and refuse to believe such things as Trinity, Heaven, Hell etc for which there is no scientific evidence. God has given us enough wisdom to question some times and remain silent sometimes. Ultimately it depends on the individual. If the person is honest in the sight of God, he tends to follow in His footsteps.

there is more to it than literality
some of the stories can have very different meaning when the nuances of translation are addressed.
the bible may be inspired but it has also been written and rewritten and rewritten and rewritten ect till the printing press was invented and now there are many different "translations"
just in English alone.
I can't help but accept the possibility that some words and phrases had different meanings when written than thay have now.
there are phases of faith inocent, literalist, loyalist, critic, and sage
it is possible to be in more than one level of faith at a time.

Yes, I believe the Bible is completely true, or as we call it, "Absolute Truth".
Why don't many Christians behave as they're supposed to? B/c they're practicing something known as "Cheap Grace". In other words, they think they're saved simply b/c they "believe". But they missed the sermon on needing to obey, too.

I know we're supposed to be able to look at God's people in order to recognize God, but please, put such type of people who are giving bad examples, to the side, and focus on the one whom they claim to believe in, instead. We pastors continue to struggle with & will deal with the people you're talking about.

yes, much of it is just a "moral of the story"

for example, judaism gets ripped a lot because the punishment for everything is stoning - at least on the surface. but what jewish religion also tells us is that G-d never meant this literally - its just a "moral of the story" thing. G-d is just being clear about how much he hates certain behaviours.

the bible is truely stated and in some cases some of the scriptures were written for the people of that time in what ever area that person was in. there is no way we can be GOD like but we can be Christ like.

A short answer is because I & everyone else make mistakes. We are supposed to look towards God & try to be like Him. We all fail though & have to trust Christ, have a relationship with Him & try to do that with by helping others & them helping us.
