how long does lithium eskalith take to work for mania and bipolar? i heard it could take a few months.....

I take it. It doesn't take very long to kick in and level you off; but, you need to have blood tests every month or so to make sure you are taking enough (not too much). Good luck.

lithium works more quickly than newer antidepressants but you have to get blood levels every month because it can become toxic and be dangerous

Usually we tell patients 3 weeks to get it working, and months to adjust the dosage so that it is within theraputic range.

Please ask the prescribing physician....
Personally, my psychiatrist told me it can take up to 2 weeks re: lithium blood levels.

lithium is an old drug. a very strong drug. have you seen "one flew over the cookoos nest"....?
