Why do they represent Jesus of how he died rather than how he lived? Isnt that like an example of a relative killed by a weapon? Then represent that weapon by having it hanged around your neck.

I remember Jesus in both ways. How he lived and how he died. I do know Jesus died for our sins but just because of that im not going to represent Jesus on across with nails on his hands and thorns on his head.SUFFERING.

People do that because they respect him for dying for their sins. They're not glorifying death, they're glorifying what he stood for.

We evangelical Christians do not portray Christ on a cross because He is no longer on the cross. We believe He died and rose from the dead. (Catholics believe this to, so I don't know why they like crucifixes so much.)
Having said that, I think it's important for us Christians to remember Christ's death, and we do that during communion. Jesus came to the earth to die. He wasn't born just to perform miracles and say a lot of wise things--He was born to die, to die for your sins and mine.

It represents his sacrifice towards mankind. Also for a reminder not to shed, surpass, nor go around the cross. There are no shortcuts in Christianity.
He left his physical body and went back to the spirit world. He never died except physically. He did not raise again physically in the same body.

Matthew 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me."

Matthew 16:24-25 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

Love God with all your soul, all your heart and might. Love your neighbor with all your soul, all your heart, and all your might.

Bill Hicks said "do you think jesus is gonna want to see another crucifix when he comes back to earth? That's like wearing a rifle pendant around Jackie O."

But I figure if Jesus really is a bastard son of God. Then he probably has bigger issues...

His death is the most imporatant thing that ever happened. Because of His death, we can have life. Also, Jesus said that we should remember His death...not His life. Honestly, His soul purpose in life was to die. That is why He lived...to die.

Have you accepted His death on the cross to count for you?

The cross represents Jesus's triumph over death.

Just to let you know, He shouldn't be on the cross any more. He was burried and He rose again. The cross is a reminder to us where he paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

It is a symbol used to transform the mind into empathy.

Empathy teaches us love.

So when you 'feel' for Christ up there on the cross, you can take that feeling and use it for others.

I couldn't agree more. they worship the weapon of death that killed the greatest man who ever lived. The Devil's influence on mainstream Christianity is so obvious.

His death was the most important part! He allowed those things to happen but in the end He gave his life for us! Jesus had the power to take himself down but he had to fufill his purpose! One of which was to die! we wear it to remember what he did for us! he loved us that much that he did it!

Because the ultimate reason he came to Earth was to absolve us of our sins, and he did that when he died for us...

"I asked Jesus Christ "how much do you love me?" he said, "this much" and spread his arms wide open..."
