It is said that angels will not enter a house where a dog is in the Hadith. Dogs are not recommended, but can be kept for practical reasons, or if one cleans oneself often and makes wudu before prayer when in contact with the dog. I don't think the color of the dog makes any difference. Usually, dogs are only kept to hunt or protect the house from intruders. Dogs are mostly warned against as pets in Islam, but if you read the Qur'an, the Surah of the Cave, the people in the cave have a dog, and are considered great Muslims. I'm not sure if this has any precedence on the matter, but I found it interesting. See Q. 18:22.

Vol 4, Book 54. Beginning Of Creation. Hadith 448.
Narrated By Abu Talha : I heard Allah's Apostle saying; "Angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture of a living creature (a human being or an animal)."

wait a minute,
Are you a Muslim. if not, why do care what we believe.

in my opinion hadith could be wrong since it is told parents to children , children to grand children and so on. it could be changed slowly after over 1400 years.
also back then the laws had to be very strict , for example they couldn't say you can drink only till you have control on yourself and not bothering anyone. there was no measurement for that so they said you can,t drink at all. or dogs were semi wild and they could have lots of sickness then they said if dog licks you, you have wash everything (sanitation) .
as for your prayer as you said don't blame the dog. maybe you doing that unknowingly because what your Friend said.

as-salaam aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, (I responded on your different question too yet i visit place my reaction right here as properly) Mabrook (congratulations) on turning out to be Muslim sister! like maximum all and sundry is asserting, this holiday is one you are able to no longer have fun anymore now which you're Muslim. i comprehend that staring on the area you're from, that's the two purely an afternoon of families accumulating and taking area in greater than a number of foodstuff and time mutually, and someplace else, that's an fantastically non secular party. yet, the origins of this holiday became non secular and on the instant that's now blended with the Catholic holiday of Día de Todos Santos. we can shop cultural practices as long as they do no longer go against Islam, and regrettably, Dios de los Muertos became and nonetheless is a non-Muslim non secular party so it is going against Islam. I completely comprehend how no longer undemanding that's to could end while that's all around you and you have been doing it for many of years... i'm a million/2 eastern and the eastern have a party to honor the lifeless referred to as O-bon or Bon competition. that's a Buddhist party even with the actuality that even non-Buddhist families in Japan have fun it as properly. families celebration and visit scrub and decorate graves and make prayers for them. Then there is likewise a dance competition it incredibly is properly known for the lifeless referred to as Bon Odori. that's soooo exciting yet I had to end celebrating it too. you will have some relatives who gets indignant in case you do no longer have fun it. they won't comprehend why you will no longer and could inform you that's no massive deal which you will have fun it with them(even a number of my relatives merely don't comprehend why i won't be able to have fun it anymore). inshallah you've an undemanding time breaking far off from this cultural prepare sis. It became no longer too no longer undemanding for me, yet even after 5 years of being a Muslim I do pass over all the exciting dancing and celebrations. could Allah replace this with something greater appropriate for you!

ok, it is true that angels do not enter the house if u have dogs and that black dogs are more susceptible to see spirits and contact them. but people also tend to forget the hadith where prophet muhammed-pbuh patted the forehead of the dog saying that -- its the most cleanest part of the animal. and remember the woman who was thrown in Hell for torturing a dog?

i have a shetland sheep dog myself, named rocky. but my dog is kind of different from all of my neighbors. my dog doesnt howl crazy in middle of the nights nor on Shab raat. he understands when it is time for prayer. AND U DONT PRAY IS NOT ur pet's FAULT, ITS UR FAULT. he wants u to show affection and he comes to u, but it is ur duty to pray.

I HAVE A SEPERATE ROOM FOR PRAYER, where my dog is not allowed. I MEAN NOW MY PET ALREADY BY HIMSELF KNOWS THAT THE SPECIFIC ROOM IS NOT MEANT FOR HIM. he never hovers by our prayer room. he is free to use any room except my prayer room, why, he even sleeps with me on my bed sometimes. all i have to say is that -- "rocky ! dont come to me for i have to pray" and u bet he never touches me.

and what bullshit is this --"back dog mei shaitan hota hai " BUT THE DEVIL RESIDES EVEN IN THE HEART OF HUMANS, so for that can u forsake ur loved ones. be reasonable.

Train ur pet and teach him/her, what to do and what not to do.
remember DOGS ARE MAN'S BEST FREIND. u can trust him more than ur best freind. TEACH HIM/HER and he/she will understand.
