and mapped out his divine plan, why did he make atheists? It's not a question of free will, because according to christianity, god has decided everything already, so why did god create atheists and other people he knew he was just going to end up sending to hell anyway?

God may have "mapped out his divine plan" -but in it he included 'free will.' What kind of God would (if he could) control our beliefs... if that was the case then wouldn't everyone believe? It IS about free will. Free will to dictate your own belief structure. Although... I can't believe that Christianity states that God has decided everything. I once had my very Christian friend tell me that God created swears! I (at the time an atheist) was mortified. I think it's inconsistent for Christian's to believe that God controls everything and it's the inconsistent Christian that preaches that. Where in the text does it state that God has decided and "mapped out" our beliefs? I'm curious...

God did not create atheists. He created human beings, and some choose to be athiests, so it is a questions of free will. God has not decided everything already according to Christianity.

wait a minute,
I would agree with you if it was all planned and it would not be fair for anyone to be punished if they did not make any decision on their own. however it is not like that at all.

when god crated man he said this is my BEST creation. god was challenged by Satan and his followers.even Adam was not sure of that. god said men is best creation because he KNEW that, not because he was challenged. He put us on earth to prove it
to us that we are the best (and still we don't believe that we are)
god gave us free will. he does not plan our life, but he knows what decisions we are going to make he knows everything about what everyone will do but he doesn't plan it for us.it is our free will.
now , god knew what we are going to do and still he said we are the best creation then i think at the end we will overcome Satan completely, that's god's faith on us. There will not be any atheists .

Why would God bother creating anything at all if he knew how everything was going to turn out? Its like watching a movie that you directed, produced, and starred in. What's the point?

Because if it's all true then no one goes to hell, he just playing with the toys he made, soon he will get tired of us and leave us alone.

God tells Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If this was the only way they could understand the difference between good and evil, how could they have known that it was wrong to disobey God and eat the fruit?

God did NOT plan out everything that would happen. when satan rebelled and took the fallen angels with him, to hell, God determined that He would have to kick some satanic buttock in the future.

that does not mean that He preordained EVERYTHING. Messiah coming to earth to save those who will believe in Him, yes, but he still embraces and puts the word out to all that have ears to hear.

for those who refuse to listen, and turn their back to God, then salvation is denied them.

The old argument about whether Judas was responsible for his sins springs to mind here...there is a movement to make him a saint in Rome at the moment as they think he was carrying out god's will, and jesus was meant to be killed, he was but the messanger or catalyst...

It applies to your question to

Free will is gets more counter-intuitive the more it is rationally pondered over!

God created this earth and Adam and Eve to have freewill. They choose to disobey God's directive to not eat of the tree of knowledge. God however foreknew they would sin (disobey) and even made plans before the creation of earth to send His son, Jesus Christ, to restore his creation back to him in a perfect state once again. Jesus Christ is God's answer to the world's sin. He paid the price we could not with His death, burial, and resurrection. All that choose Christ will spend eternity with Him and the Father.. So those who choose not to beleive in Christ condemn themselves. Christ condemns no one.. Hope this helps..

God didn't predetermine everything. That's just stupid. We all have free will. And people that beleive there is no God have the right to.

God does not exist and if he does he can't predetermined everything. We are not computer programs, where all of us are predetermined by the codes. God makes many mistakes because the creator of God is not flawless.
