I have recently moved to a new area. My daughter has started a new middle school. After moving I have found out that and i say this lightly the area that we live is ghetto. Upon visiting her school I realized that her entire school is black the smal 5 percent is a combination. I am african american but i have a problem with my child not being in a diverse school. Furthermore they dont want to put her into algebra which she is supposed to be taking because they say its only for 8th graders, even though shes already taking pre algebra they want her to take it agaIN. Is there a way to get her into a better school without having to pay 4,400 dollars for a private school. we do well but not that well. What do you think?

(In response to Tagind ) its not racist to not want my daughter to attend an all black school. The problem is its not reality, kids should be exposed to other ethnicities. Furthermore i was told that this area is not a good area so what would you call it?

Hoping to not offend anyone, unfortunately this is a case where you can use your race card. Find out if the other schools have less blacks in them. If they do, most districts have a policy of "freedom of choice." It is usually used for covering "race" percentages in the school district. If you still are not allowed to move your child, seek the Board of Education in your state. They can move mountains when you can't blow a mole hill over!!

Contact your local education board for assistance on the matter, which could take anywhere from a week to several months.

You can contact the principal and have a meeting with him/her and ask if your child can be moved because of the "ability level" he/she has.

Different communities/cities/counties/states have different rules on this subject matter.

you want the best education for your child spend your money. secondly I find it racist for you not want your child just to go to black school because you find it it Ghetto.I am black but this is reality, how you feel if it was other race saying that? Well nothing for free if you want your child to have what you never had dig deep in your pocket. If you feel black school has problems face it and fight the government to Improve in that are then run away from it. white people got together and CONTRIBUTE AND FIGHT THE PROBLEM they are facing in they school, black people we judge and we put our self down. step up and do the right thing and help other kids.
