Hello, Does anybody know of any assitance or any programs that help you with your medical bills or help write them off after insurance has paid there part? Even with insurance, they rack up high! Thanks!

Well, it depends on if you have insurance or not. If you do not have any insurance at all, you can apply for assistance from your local FIA organization (it may be called something else in your area). If you apply through FIA, then they can help you get Medicaid and even help pay for some medical bills, depending on what your health problems are. If you are disabled, you could even get SSI, which means you can get health insurance and $500 a month every month-it can take awhile, because the government usually does not want to give away "free" money.

If you're low income, many hospitals have programs where they'll write off much of what insurance doesn't pay. I know someone who makes about $16,000 a year, and she was eligible for this. Talk to the hospital accounting department.

No, but if you talk to the hospital billing department, sometimes they'll let you do a payment plan.
