i used to take xanax and prozac but my new doc put me on trileptal just wondering if the effects were immediate, not like prozac which is time released

Not many medications have immediate effect, but the newer ones give you relief MUCH quicker. Hang in there and keep taking your meds! God bless!

Prozac is not time released. It was the first SSRI and has a very long half life, which is why you can stop it without tapering off
All these drugs take time to build up in the system. I am not familiar with Trileptal but I assume it is being used as a mood stabilizer. Give it time to see if it is a good choice for you

I am bi-polar and my doc has me on Effexor. So far this medication seems to really work for me. Before that I got so tired of trying med after med. Trileptal does not have an immediate effect. It takes about 6 weeks to completely get into your system. I am also ADH and my doc gives me Adderall for that. My anxiety is calmed with Ativan. Go to Google and type in the word bi-polar and you will be able to read all about your new med. Good luc!

trileptal is a mood stabilizer and also used as an antidepressant. it will take full effect in about 4 weeks but you will start feeling better in about 5 days

Your body needs to build a "working" level of the drug to feel the effects.. so no immediate effect is noticed to answer your question
