I'm not sure if it's bursitus or arthritus. I wonder if I should get a cortizone shot?

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain. NO don't get a shot of cortizone because it isn't a long-term solution you might as well just get drunk cause that wil make if feel better too and for a cheaper and about the same amount of time LOL no don't do that unless you are of age and nevermind

Anyway so likely solutions... take a warm bath or shower and let the your body warm up good then slowly stretch it side to side, up and down all of the different ways that you can.

Even though it hurts a little you can still do it hold the stetch for ten seconds each and don't ever bounce

I have bursitus in both of my shoulders. When the pain starts to flair up, I use moist heat (usually a damp towel in conjunction with a heating pad) for 30 minutes a couple of times a day. Within 2 days the pain is gone. You should see your doctor to get a diagnosis and remedy.

Best to go to a dr. and let him/her decide. It could be a rotator cuff tear, in which case you will need surgical repair. Cortisone shots are not usually administered within only a couple days of the injury. You have to try conservative measures first (such as anti-inflammatories, icing, immobilization, p.t., etc). You might also need diagnostic studies.

before you go to the expense and pain of a cortisone shot, try this. 400 to 600 mg. of turmeric (yup, the stuff you put in rice), plus 1000 mg. flaxseed oil, and 300 mg. (approximately) bromelaine. take this 3 times a day. you can buy turmeric capsules at wal-mart for about $7 for a bottle of 90. I know it sounds crazy, but it worked for me.
The flax seed oil and bromelaine are not absolutely necessary to make ot work, they just facilitate absorption.
