Everytime he goes in the front yard, which isnt all that big... he must lift his leg 20 times in about 3 minutes! Ha, you're not the only one. I have a pit bull, and mine does the SAME exact thing every time I walk him outside. Although, it's not every 3 minutes, it's like 20 times every 30 seconds! Makes walking him unpleasent. He pulls me to every tree, bush, and pole on the block. When male dogs do this, they're not actually relieving themselves, they're "marking" their territory. It's a dominance issue in unneutered male dogs. Have the dog neutered, and it won't be an issue anymore.

He might have a bladder infection, which in that case, makes him pee all the time. Has he always done it? He could of been born with a small bladder, which would also make him pee all the time. Take him to a vet, and they will tell you for sure what the problem is. But if it's serious, get a second opinion.

...on another note, ever know a guy after drinking a few beers? he lifts his,...well......... 20 times a minute too!

I call our dog 'Mr bladder control problem' at times because he can whine to go out after about 10 mins of coming in from outside wanting to go again.

My guess is it has more to do with dogs marking territory in their own odd ways then anything else. Vet check shows our dog is extremely healthy and previous to 'walking' the dog he didn't seem to do this and spent plenty fo time outdoors in a fenced yard.

My thinking is walking reduces the time he spends gaurding his territory outside and a lack of a fence allows this little dog to roam our yard which further aggravates the issue which means my dog tracks the other and pees every 2 feet to remark the yard.

Good news is he doesn't pee too much in any one place so he hasn't killed any grass or shrubs on me here.

My dog pees on every bush, tree, fire hydrant, and whatever else is sticking out of the ground. Hes a big pain in the but to walk.

When a male marks, he may only pee a few drops at a time, sometimes it may look like he is marking but he isn't. He is just trying to leave his scent in as many places as he can.

Put you boyfriends dog on a feeding schedule. 1-3 times daily at the same time EACH AND EVERYDAY. An hour afterwards take them out.
Maybe you should see a vet. Something might be wrong with your dog.

Everytime we put a leash on our dogs and go for a walk they think they'd have to mark EVERY blade of grass or every yard. I finally had to sternly tell them if they didn't really have to go don't stop, and it worked, they don't stop at every yard anymore.

he's markin his territory. when he goes for a walk to the park it is letting other dogs know that he's been there. my sisters dog pees on every tree, lamp post that there is along his walk. they have a seperate bladder just for marking their territory. or maybe not, its just a little squirt.

as long as the bull has a tank of full of liquid . . .

then it'd better pee somewhere then no where . . .

there no telling what damage can be done to the dog !
