I'm referring to the questions that are posted as a statement to mock religion, people of faith, Jesus, or / and God.
Please tell me honestly how old you are, what you do for a living, and if you have a college degree?
I'm not being funny. I'm a 29 y.o with a BSN, and work as a reg. nurse. See I'm serious :-) Please be honest. Thanks.

Good question - I've only posted one question in this section but I've answered a lot here, although I try to keep my answers fairly open-minded. I'm an atheist, a married 24-year-old, I'm a semester away from a degree in Scientific Illustration, and I'm taking a year off and working as a cashier so I can live with my husband (who is in the Navy) until he gets out and I can finish school with him at my side. To expound, I'm one of those people who has spent the better part of their life (it seems) in college, having not been able to choose a major right off the bat, in addition to struggling with the whole setup of the current academic institution systems. I'm a few classes (and senior theses) away from degrees in Biology, Philosophy, Religion, and Studio Art. Anyway, my mocking answers have usually only happened as a result of others' mocking (or just plain dumb) questions. As a side note, I would guess that the people this question is REALLY aimed at are either not going to respond, or respond in just as an exagerrated and extreme nature as that with which they posted their mocking questions in the first place. But, good for you for trying to discern between open & honest human discussion and outright nonsense! =)

Well, I've never posted a question just for the sake of mocking religion of any sort. The only qustions I've bothered to waste my ten points on were serious and more often than not were in different categories.
But you wish to know my background. I am an Atheist (more specificly I'm a LaVeyan Satanist). I'm 19 (I'll be 20 in November) but I'm always told I look and/or act older. No I don't have a college degree nor am I in college at the moment but enrolling is a goal of mine. Once I'm in I plan on majoring in psychology and taking minors/generals in phylosophy, mythology, and theology. All my life I've had a facination with old religions as well as the modern influence of past orthodoxies. I have a management possition in a retail outlet, though I'm searching for a more fullfilling and higher-paying job (retail sucks). I consider myself to be very intelligent, but I do aknowlage areas where I fall short.
Is that what you want to hear? Or are you just trying to convince yourself that all Atheists are unintelligent, immature nay sayers who turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to your beliefs?

I'm sorry--I don't think religion or people of faith need to be mocked. They mock themselves.

The childish and hateful writing that is done here is much more often the product of the so-called "nice" folks--the religionists.

I have a BS, two masters' degrees, and two PhDs. I started out as an astrophysicist, had a conversion experience and became a church scholar, lost my faith and became an airline pilot. Got too old for that, and now I am an independent publisher of health and fitness learning materials. I am a Druid, because it doesn't require a PhD.

The ones who post the mocking questions (or answers when the zealots post something mocking atheists) are not going to be a good representation of atheists. Hmm, as childish as people are here I don't think you could get a good representation of anything! Lots of people who post like that are looking for a fight, from any point of view.

But anyway...
I've never posted a question, but an intelligent and polite question will always get a polite answer from me, and I'll try to make it intelligent, as well!

I'm an Agnostic but I've never posted such a question.. anyone is free to look through my past asked questions and see if they'd like to take the time.

I'm 37, have a B.S. in Human Services Management and I've worked as a Chemical Lab Technician for the past 14 years.

I agree with Paul S. Mocking/bashing is of childish behavior and is usually used as a means of provoking a response from others in order to gain attention for some ulterior motive.

I myself consider to be of the agnostic type. In my opinion, to believe something is to know what you hold true in every possible aspect of sensory input. The existence of an omnipotent being and the concept of an afterlife can neither be proven nor disproved so I find my myself neither in belief nor disbelief of these subjects.

"Truth" in every sense of the word has been profoundly disambiguated and often refers to many differing subjects. I was raised as strict traditional roman catholic and have since change my views on life seeing forced religion has not boded well with me. I have found over the years that clarity of information and purity of mind is what I ultimately seek.

I am 20 years old and I will have completed Computer Science A.S. by Spring 2007.

You might ask that as well of the believers who post childish questions on this site. Notice that by the time there were 8 responses to your question, you already had a childish response from a believer, and still none from the nonbelievers.

There's plenty of childish behavior on both sides, and frankly, adult behavior on the part of believers is far more rare than it is among the atheists and agnostics here. Even many of the believers who act like adults make basic mistakes with their arguments, like the Pascal's Wager argument we see above.

As with others, I'm an atheist who's posted a few religion type questions, but I think they've been serious and not mocking.

I'm 31 years old, two college diplomas and one university degree, plus a professional accounting designation.

Evolution (substitute in populations of animals by the years) is a truth. It occurs. that's been spoke of and nicely documented. the idea of evolution with the help of organic decision is the most acceptable reason at the back of the truth of evolution that we've. It makes many predictions about what we can discover that were for this reason examined over the perfect 100 and fifty years. And at the same time as in that factor, that's been changed and better, no information has been discovered that promptly contradicts the conventional innovations of the idea. There are competing hypothesis accessible (smart layout is between the most universal), yet none of them have no longer all started to furnish any significant medical information or maybe appropriate, testable predictions. That makes them unsupported hypothesis at maximum acceptable. there is no controversy. between scientists who're qualified in biology, surveys educate that ninety 9.80 5% settle for evolutionary concept because the most acceptable reason at the back of the spoke of truth of evolution. Oh, and one extra time: Atheism calls for that you no longer believe in a god. It does no longer require that you compromise for any option reason at the back of existence or existence, collectively with the idea of evolution.

I don't need to ask the hard questions - religion mocks itself, and others are doing quite welll with the questions.

This section is entitled "Religion and Spirituality". It does not say you have to BE those things. It's for a forum for asking questions ABOUT those things.

Lots of atheists and agnostics have strong interests in these things. If they appear to ask questions that seem irreverent or mocking, that is just the frame you are putting around it.
