a muslim isnt a muslim just by name. a muslim by heart is one who fulfills the needs of others and who remembers God in every little lawful and righteous thing he/she does. thanks for reading the Quran and understanding this point.
Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Calf سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
177 It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets; and giveth wealth, for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask, and to set slaves free; and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are the Allah-fearing.
186 And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright.
195 Spend your wealth for the cause of Allah, and be not cast by your own hands to ruin; and do good. Lo! Allah loveth the beneficent.

It's still a religion and still has dark sides to it just like all religions.
Like Last year a group of poeple hanged two 16 year old boys for being gay and that was because of their religion.

It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah-fearing.

THAT IS A VERY NICE THING TO SAY. IT IS SAD THAT SOME PEOPLE JUDGE ALL MUSLIMS BASED ON THE FEW BAD ONES THAT TWISTED THE RELIGION TO SUIT THEIR NEEDS. I HOPE WE CAN ALL JUST TRY TO BE A LITTLE MORE OPENED MINDED REGARDING ALL RELIGIONS AND STOP BASHING ON THEM. SOME PEOPLE COULD STAND TO BE A LITTLE MORE NICER AND A WHOLE LOT LESS HURTFUL.

If you read the Qu'ran then you do come to this conclusion because it does preach love for your fellow man (and woman). It is a shame that most non-Muslims are completely ignorant to its teachings

jim,
"A religion that teaches complete surrender to God."
Jesus never said, "Be religious and get into heaven."
"And duty to the poor of their brothers and sister. total respect for their women and family and love and tolerance to others"
Too bad Mohammed was lacking in exercising respect for women.

It is shame that the actions of a few paint the picture of what most think about islam.

Yes it is, though not all muslims act in that way (you can say that for any religion though).
What's the question?
