I was on my vacation trip from Chicago to Atlanta, and I had a speeding ticket in Tennessee. But the police officer messed up with my first, last and middle name, and I signed on the ticket without knowing about it. He still got my driver license number correctly, however. So since he got my name wrong, do I have a chance to not to pay for the ticket? Thanks a lot for your time

Hi I'm Garry,

Sorry to say NO.
If they have taken your License number and car reg number then they will simply send it to your address with the incorrect name you gave them, they might even correct the name as they would have your License number and correct the name via their records.

Even if they didn't see your license they would have taken your car reg number so in that fact they will bill the owner of that car and send the fine to the address on the car reg.

I hope I am clear enough for you.
I should mention I know this because my sister is a police officer.

Simply wishing you the best of luck,

Garry

You have to pay. I can't tell you how many times people called asking that question. If the officer got the DL number right we know what your real name is. You never said you didn't speed, don't waste your time and money on an attorney it would cost more than the ticket and you would lose.

And to the lady in Arkansas I am surprised that Judge told you that because it isn't true.

Drivers Licence and plate number. I would say he's got you.

Were you speeding? Pay The Ticket!

It is too late to be concerned about getting a ticket. When you put your key in the ignition and your foot on the gas pedal, Is when you could have avoided a ticket by letting up a bit on the speed.

God Bless you, ;-)

That's a really nice try - but I suspect if he got your driver's license number correct - and you stated he did - the ticket will stand up in court.
Just send the money in.

Doesn't it just pee in your cornflakes to get a ticket when you know that everyone else in the world speeds? Whenever I get a speeding ticket, I just rationalize it by thinking about all the times I didn't get caught.

The correct drivers lisense number AND your signiture on the ticket seals it. It wouldnt matter about the tag number because you would get a ticket for speeding even if it were in a friend's car.

A judge in Arkansas once told me that if anything is wrong on a ticket then it can be challenged. However not knowing the laws in other states, I can not be for sure, but hey it never hurts to challenge the laws it is our right here in America. At least for now!

IF you signed it, that means you acknoledged the mistakes and accepted them. So the only way you might get out of it is if you appear in court and try to fight the reasons behind getting pulled over. Unfortunately, even though there are stupid cops, they have the upper hand.

depends on your state in IA yes you can however all the police officer has to do is re-issue you the ticket which doesn't have to be at the seen can re-issue it right there in the courtroom so it really doesn't do any good to fight this one

either way my friend, you are doomed with a ticket. Unless you are willing to pay a lot of money to have a lawyer settle it in court.

There is usually a provision for written errors, meaning you will probably get a ticket.
