Long nails will give the illusion of longer thinner fingers - especailly like a french manicure/or someother close to flesh coloured nail polish.

Also, could be just genetic. My skinny friend who is really beautiful - has big hands and funny looking feet. Every one has some kind of ugliness to bear in this life.... If it is just fat fingers - be happy it isn't alot of other things that could be wrong with the way you look.

There are no stupid questions when it is something you are really bothered about. The fact is though, that characteristics such as length of fingers are genetic - based upon the genes we get from our parents. If you only need to lose about 10 pounds that probably wouldn't make much difference to your fingers anyway. And there is no way to just lose weight from one part of your body. Sometimes we have to accept some things about ourselves that we cannot change.

Why not focus on all the things that are good and wonderful about you? I am sure you have many positives. I can tell by how you wrote your question that you are a smart girl, and you have a lot going for you. Try not to focus on the things you see as negatives. And you know what? Most likely you are the only person who thinks there is anything wrong with your fingers!

Take care and enjoy each day. Have fun!

Don't eat second helpings, leave off the sweets, and cut back on your carbohydrates. That is, leave off your potatoes and cut way back on bread. Get plenty of exercise. Try not to snack unless it is fruits and vegetables. Leave off your unhealthy snack especially at night before bedtime.

You can lose weight in your fingers if it is weight, if it's your bone mass making them big though that's a different story.
Water retention is another reason they may be big, don't add salt to your food. Much salt in the diet holds water in the body.

If you were one hundred pounds overweight, then yes, losing weight would make your fingers skinnier. Since you are only 10 pounds overweight, the answer is no. It is genetics that make your fingers plumper than your friend's fingers. It has nothing to do with being overweight.

You have two options: 1) surgery or 2) learn to love your fingers the way that they are. I suggest option number two.

You really cannot slim down your fingers, even if you lose weight. Unless you lose LOTS of weight in an unhealthy way.
