when religious people laugh at me when i tell them that i am decended from apes, i never get angry. it makes me even more humble and down to earth to know that i am connected to all the elements of the world.
to think that i am some kind of a special creation by a god cuts me off reality. been brainwashed with idea of been superior is what has made this world a terrible place for us all.
dont you agree?

I don't "believe in" evolution I accept the facts that show that evolution is true.

Yes, wholeheartedly.

By the way, you (we) did NOT descend from apes. We have a common anscestor way back when, but apes, gorillas, orangutans, etc., have been on different branches of the tree for a LONG time.

The most recent split going back from us *that still survives today* was chimps. There have been other splits that didn't survive, like Neanderthals.

(But don't look at it like WE are the center line with all the branches coming off, some going on and on and branching themselves, and some dying out...we're just another branch, like everything else.)

First, may I suggest that it is healthier to avoid locations and situations in which religious wackadoos can laugh at you?

Second, may I point out that the doctrine of Evolutionary Progression by Natural Selection does not suggest that we are "descended" from apes, but rather that apes and we have common ancestors?

Furthermore, when we speak of "ancestors" and "descendents" in evolutionary terms, we are not talking about descendents in terms of family genealogy. We are talking about gradual development over millions of years. A very different kind of thing.

Finally, it is true that "god" does not exist, and that the world has developed according to natural principles. Nothing that any religious person can say in opposition to that simple truth makes reality any different from reality.

Abide in Peace.

music, you are right.evolution is a fact of life, tho I don't know about the apes. I would tell you that creationism goes hand in hand with evolution. in fact evolution and the expanding universe Prove GOD exist and is still in the process of creating. I will give the details as soon as they are available to me. LOVE

Definitely!!! I believe in evolution too, and the idea of creationism and intelligent design kinda bug me. Evolution does give a sense of being connected to the world.

Natural biological evolution fails at all levels except for those species numbering more than about one quadrillion individuals with generation times less than three months and body sizes smaller than one centimeter.

No, I don't agree. Man IS superior to animals. I've never seen a pack of wild monkeys dress up men in ape suits and teach him to dance for their enjoyment as they throw peanuts at him. I've never seen horses train men to work for them or elephants conscript the services of a man to carry their loads when they get tired. I've never seen dolphins develop theories on the state of the universe or camels on the moon. I've never seen lizards develop medical laboratories or deer create compulsory education. Ox don't create social safety nets, and tigers don't debate issues of philosophy. Man is superior to all of the animals and has dominance over the earth and all that is in it.

How can you be descended from apes when you are still technically considered an ape, all people are. I don't think that you should believe in evolution, it's more like you should believe evolution is the most probable.

I see your point. If that works for me, it works for me. Believe in yourself and learn not to be bothered by religious people's laugh. If I remember what Jesus was supposed to have said at the cross: forgive them, for they not know what they are doing. You can do the same, ie forgive them for they not know why they are laughing.

Yes I agree.

(I might quibble that we're cousins with apes, not descended from them. In fact chimpanzees are closer cousins. But that's all secondary to your thesis, which I agree with wholeheartedly.)
