I sprained my ankle nearly a month ago, but it's just got getting any better. I can walk on it, but every so offten I just step on it at the wrong angel, or i move it wrong and its like i sprained it all over again! It had gotten a lot better, but now it's swollen and painful again! I've Elevated, rested, iced, heated, aced, everything, but it just seems like its taking FOREVER to get better. Any ideas how long it takes for one to heal? What i can do to make it hurry up?

Hmm. It sounds like you've been doing the right sort of thing. Usually the sprain takes about 6 weeks to heal (month and a half)

However if it is being so troublesome, you might have done a little worse than sprain.

There is a condition where you can hurt the cartilage of the ankle (osteochondral fracture) which we should suspect when a simple sprain is doing so badly.

Go back to your doctor and discuss this. You may need specialist referral and a special MRI scan.

Quit smoking if you are a smoker. Give your small vessels a chance to get blood there to help the healing.

(The other possibility is that you have had a sprain and then walked on it and re-injured it. You should do well with physiotherapy if this is what is going on.)

chances are you still have a disjointed nerve in the sore area of your foot. go and see a doctor.

you know what and i've learned this during my basketball playing days, you can get relief from sprained ankle by rolling your affected foot to a bottle of coke. Continue doing it until pain is gone. it should be a bottle of coke because of its curvature. I tell you, i had countless sprained ankles before and it works

Yeah, that's tough when you keep reinjuring it.

The best answer is to get some physical therapy. They can help you strengthen it so you stop reinjuring it. Beyond that, try to wear shoes that offer good support for your ankle, and try to stay away from high heels.

The fastest cure is P.T.

keep the tensor bandage on for 2 weeks steady, except when you are sleeping. its obvious that you started using it before it was ready. Or, go buy an ankle brace with metal or plastic supports to keep your ankle from twisting, and don't wear heels for at least 6 weeks.
