Get a bar of Lava soap. Get it wet and rub it on the poison ivy. Rub it gently until it coats the rash with a good film. Leave it on and let it dry. It pulls the moisture out of the poison ivy and dries it in. Repeat as needed to keep from itching.

My wife and I live in the country and happen to collect old books. One of them was an old Farmer’s Remedies book from around 1917. For poison ivy, it said to use a slice of white onion and rub it on the rash. My wife and I have used this for not only poison ivy, but for some bug bites as well. It works great.

Take a bath and soak for awhile. The irritant is an oil, so dish soap will help remove the poison, after your bath use an anti-itch cream like Aveeno or Cortizone if its still bothering you. You'll be red for awile, though.

It's not at home but the salt in the oceans saltwater will dry it up A.S.A.P. and stop the itching. I'm not kidding about that I'm highly allergic to it and I have taken a dunk in the ocean in September when I was younger. its the best way to get rid of it and it won't cost you a penny like anything that may try and be sold over-counter.

That's about it I'm affraid, unless you have cortisone topical lotion, which would also help.
