I want to make them feel like they have their own rooms - they just have 2 different themes and I don't know how to combine those. Should I put a line down the room and decorate both sides separately or try to combine the colors.

Room Dividing Shelves

Hi,
Here is a diy project that I saw the other night on TV and it looked very easy to make or buy something like it.

It sounds like the sote of thing you are looking for. Still giving the boys an open feel to the room yet creating there own space and the shelves will come in handy for books and toys to display.

When the boys out grow the room the shelves will make a nice piece of furniture you to use.

Below is the site with instructions on how the build the shelves.

If the camo is green, find a green that compliments the blue car. Paint the walls on the blue car side the complimentary green and find a blue that compliments the race car. Paint the walls around the camo blue. This works, you just need to find the right colors. This brings the two together by crossing over the room. Or you could chair rail the green on the bottom, and blue above, also painting the ceiling the same blue (green for earth, blue for sky). Then find objects that emphasize both colors. A green lampshade on a simple lamp on the race car side and a fun neon blue clock on the camo side. Then, let them do their thing. They make a neat chair rail that is cork, you can place that around the room and they can pin things (if they are old enough) like art work onto the rail. It can work, good luck.

Try to find a clever way to divide the room, maybe a screen 3 or 4 panel screen. Paint one side like a camo net and the other side like a stadium, or a big racing logo of some sort. Talk to your boys and ask them what they want. Have fun!

Buy a divider for the room, and decorate accordingly. You can also get some great wooden letters to spell out their names, paint them, and put them on the wall on each respective side, to kind of give them a "claim" to their side of the room. Good luck!~

Does it matter? I mean they are small boys, right? The room will probably look like downtown beiruit most of the time anyways... Decorating is for grown ups!
