It's possible. Straining during a bowel movement (valsalva maneuver) and increase the pressure of blood vessels in your head tremendously. If you already have any weakening of your vessels (like an aneurysm) it could, theoretically, cause it to burst and you could die.

Yes, it is the result of a Vaso/Vagal response. It does happen, but fortunately not too frequently. There has been much speculation that this was the cause of death for "ELVIS". Yes. I mean "THE" Elvis Presley. I have not seen anything conclusive, one way or the other on that front but with all the kooky things I have seen over 27+ years in the medical field, if that were the case I would not be suprised.

This is extremely common. It can also happen that people pass away and relieve themselves as there passing it has to do with a strain on the heart that causes the bowl movement

Yes. My ex-husband died of an acute heart-attack while "sitting on the throne" as he used to call it. He was 51, and his entire family had very bad tickers. I mentioned this to my children's doctor at the time, and he said that this is more common than one might think. More people die this way that we know....because it is such a personal thing.

It happens more than you'd think. I used to go to sudden death calls all the time and old guys were always cashing in on the crapper.
