It's cheating if you are talking about inappropriate things....like sex and desires and stuff. A good way to judge whether or not it's right or wrong is would you let your girlfriend stand behind you and read what you and that person are typing? If not, then something's wrong. Good luck.

YES chatting is cheating because you had to ask and because you said you almost have to because of her. If there are things that you need to work out, you should talk to her and not cheat or chat online.

What does "because of her I almost have to?" mean? If you are in a relationship, you do avoid getting into romantic relations with people of the opposite sex. That is the point of a relationship. I don't get what you mean here.
If she is uncomfortable with your chatting, then whether or not it should be considered cheating is irrelevant. What is relevant is whether or not you are willing to try to respect her feelings and make her happy. If you are not willing to do this, then save both yourself and that girl alot of time and heartache and move on already. yeesh.

If it was just the first part of your question I might have said no, but then you added "because of her I almost have to." That tells me you do not take any responsibility for your actions and you are attempting to justify your behavior by blaming it on someone else. I think you already have your answer. You're wrong, not the chatting.

think of it this way. would you be comfortable letting your spouse stand over your shoulder and watch you 'chat online'? If you are uneasy with that then DON'T DO IT!!!!
You may not see it as cheating, but your spouse may believe you to be cheating. It's really going to be determined by your spouse's response to what you are doing.

It's not cheating, but you are full of crap. If she ain't happy tarzan, buck up and be a real man and make her happy so you don't have to consider chatting online or cheating.

there is no cut and dry answer to this kind of question.
of course, you are not cheating. but of course you are cheating- straying in a certain manner. you're virtually cheating, having a virtual affair. I discourage you from blaming other for your behavior, however. do whatever you want and than accept the consequences.

Touchy area, most men would say no, unless it was there wives do in the chatting.
Most women say yes.
I think it is not personally, I enjoy chatting with women, but I make it clear that I am not looking to meet or engage in actual sexual activities. It helps me understand myself and my wife better.

If it is just chatting about normal conversation then no. If it is a steamy talk still no but the steamy talk will make your significant other very upset.
