I lost my cat 2 days ago and I can't find her. I think she snuck out, so I showed almost everyone in the neighborhood her picture and even put up $50 reward flyers on dumpsters (we live in the outskirts of a big town). Is there anything else I can do? I've had her for 3 years, since I was 10, and I've always been responsible for her and love her dearly. She's a calico cat with a unique print, so I would assume people would recognize her photo. What else could I do for her?

Put up plenty of posters with her picture on them and consider an ad in the lost and found pet section of the local paper. It's worth it. I have a had a few cats who have gotten "lost". In one instance, I had a cat get locked in an empty apartment. People walking by saw her in the window of the apartment and recognized her from the posters I put up. They called to let me know and I got her out. Also, many people have a kind heart and will take a cat in and feed it if they think it's stray, so getting the word out lets them know where to return the animal.

Another suggestion is to try putting out oily tuna or some other smelly food when you have time to be home and watch for your cat. She may be nearby but scared and the smelly food may draw her out.

Best wishes for your cat to come home soon...

I don't know what else you can do other than call the local shelter, but I live in a city of about 30,000 people, have owned a few outdoor cats. One of my cats didn't come home for two weeks; but when she did, she was fine (other than a skinny stomach; we think she got trapped in someone's garage.) Other cats have been gone for up to a week. (And like a few other people suggested, she may be in heat.) My advice is to give her a little more time and she'll probably come home. Cats are surprisingly resilient creatures.

KEEP PLENTY OF FOOD AND WATER OUT IN THE HOUSE. THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW IF SHE IS JUST HIDING DURING THE DAY. IF SHE DID SNEAK OUT , SHE WILL HIDE DURING THE DAY. GET SOMEONE TO GO WITH YOU AND GO AROUND YOUR BLOCK AFTER 9 PM OR SO,THEN RANGE OUT. WALK VERY SLOWLY AND KEEP A CLOSE WATCH AND LISTEN. SHE WILL STILL BE AFRAID TO COME TO YOU VERY FAST BECAUSE SHE IS AFRAID OF WHAT MY BE IN THE AREA. THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE TO BE VERY SLOW AND ALERT. NOTE: I ALSO HAD ONE THAT GOT COUGH INSIDE THE BOTTOM OF MY COUCH. HE CLAWED A HOLE AND WENT UP INSIDE. LOST FOR TWO DAYS. I ALSO HAD ONE HIDE IN THE BACK OF MY CLOSET, BEHIND A SUITCASE, OVERNIGHT. I HAD LOOKED IN THERE, BUT HE DIDN'T MAKE A SOUND OR MOVE. ALSO LOST ONE UNDER THE JUNK UNDER THE BED FOR A DAY. WE HAVE 5 ( X-FARREL )CATS, AND THAT IS WHY I'VE BEEN LOOKING SO MUCH.HOPE YOU THE BEST OF LUCK. BILL & MARI

Have you called the local animal shelters? It is possible that someone turned her in or will turn her in. Leave a photo with them as well.

Good luck, I hope she turns up!

If she is in heat, and she left three days ago, she will be home, pregnant not the less, in about 11 days.
