If you've ever taken a whiff of catnip yourself, you'll notice it's a minty smell. Take that and imagine the smell 20x more noticable and you have yourself a tube of Bengay.

It must be something like catnip. I had a cat that would go half nuts if he smelled Bengay and he would try to bite me!

Some cats are very attracted to the smell of mint and menthol. That's really the only explanation. For them, it's like catnip. Just don't let your cat lick it as it's not very good for him/her.

We had a cat that did the very same thing! We had no idea why. He would bite and lick us anytime we had it on.
