PetSafe has two Citronella collars: one for barking, and one as a training collar in general. The collar for barking will spray your dog when he barks. The training collar must be activated by you via remote control every time your dog does something you do not like.

Unfortunately, this method of training does not always work. While the Citronella spray collars are a more humane method than the shock collars, you are employing a type of negative reinforcement instead of a positive one.

Beyond that point, it can be very, VERY difficult to trigger the collar to go off at the exact time your dog does the unwanted deed. You must correct your dog within 1-2 seconds of the act otherwise he will not associate the punishment with the incorrect action. For example, say you see Rover digging in the roses. You start digging for the remote to his Citronella/shock collar in your pocket. By the time you get it out and zap him, Rover was already going potty in his "potty spot" of the yard. Rover, happily going potty, suddenly gets sprayed up the nose or is shocked and is now scared to use the bathroom in his potty spot.

See what I mean? I would try a few positive reinforcement methods before going this route to avoid confusing your dog. Try talking to a local trainer for more information.

I'm going to tell you that I really don't like the idea of these collars. Keep in mind that the website says the dogs need to be over 6 pounds.
