They have faith that they are right about what they believe. Just like any religious person. And they cannot admit it.

How sad for them.

Most of them are in denial about their souls too. So no good for most of them. I really think most of them don't exercise their souls, they don't have any faith in them.

I am of the opinion that atheism does require a small amount of faith, since logically, we cannot definitely prove the non-existence of a God or God-like being. However, atheists would likely argue that is the default position to have, for lack of better information.

In my humble opinion, the only group who truly don't need any faith at all are agnostics. (Of course, the downside of agnosticism is the lack of a definitive answer on the existence of God.)

Atheists' religion is having no religion at all.

Here's an anology:
Happy is to happy;
Atheism is to Christianity.

Basically, let's say that everyone has to have a religion. Everyone has to choose from a list that includes Christianity, Jewish, Muslim, etc. And in that list is Aethism. It's a religion that has no god and no boundries....it's a religion that isn't a religion, but you can look at it as a religion basically. Yeah..... ....

So they believe in Aethism. They don't admit to it because people are discriminatory about they're "religion". monotheistic relgious people look at aethists differently than people who believe the same that they do. How do I know? I've read these boards. "Why are aethists so stupid?" and other questions like that.

For all of those reading this who agree with the question "Why are aethists so stupid?", let me ask you something. Why do you believe in a god? Aethists don't believe in a god because there is proof against it, and scientific theories make more sense to them. Now, that doesn't mean I'm saying that God doesn't exist, because those theories are just that: theories. Not proven either.
So it all depends on which you think applies more to you: a spiritual based religioin or a scientific religion. They're equal and should be looked upon as the same.

Those are my views, and if you do not agree, then thats ok. Here's my favorite quote: I might disaprove of what you're saying, But I'll defend to my death your right to say it."

Faith is not exclusive to religion..assuming that is just idiotic.

Faith is a belief..Religion is an organized group belief in a higher being that is mediated by a church and Atheism is an individual belief that there is no higher being..by very definition atheists cannot be religious.

Now I am not an atheists but I have spoken to quite a few..they have never said they have faith in nothing..they just do not believe there is a God.

Now according to you my religion is Gravity since I have faith in gravity keeping me on the Earth. Maybe my religion is DEATH since I have faith that if I get squashed by a 50 ton object I will die. This of course is pure nonsense..just as your question and position are but hey whatever floats your boat

Edit to add::yeah looked it up on LOTS of sites and went to your dictionary.com..it does NOT say it is a religion..says it is a belief..according to your site faith = "confidence or trust in a person or thing". Again I feel I need to explain...No religion I have EVER heard about says that any belief makes a religion..Again let me point out that I have faith the guy next to me will not push me into a train..is that man now God? is the train God because I have faith it will stay on the tracks. Your idea is flawed and based on a mutation of a word that is not valid.
You keep saying God is not required for it to be a religion..according to your dictionary.com religion is "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. "
So based on the site you are using that right there says atheism is NOT a religion since they have no belief in the supernatural.

Also for record I am not an atheist I just appreciate language enough to oppose any attempt to twist and mangle it into a false form to attack others

Explain to me: How is that a person NOT believing something is in a religion? Would you be in multiple religions that do NOT believe in the greek gods, egyptian gods, etc? Of coarse not, so the same thing for us.

Believing in evolution is apart from being athiest, and it is something that is believed because there is all type of evidence about it unlike hearsay things like "I heard god speaking to me." I could tell you that Zeus and all the other greek gods talked to me, but that doesn't make it real evidence.

You're just trying too hard to justify your beliefs by making atheists into same thing as you are.

An atheist would generally describe himself as someone who rejects the concept of a god. In most cases, the concept of a god is central to religion. I suppose you could argue that atheism is one of the unusual cases where people have a set of beliefs based not on the concept of a god (and in fact on their belief that there is NOT a god)...but like another person said, atheists have very wide-ranging beliefs (much more so than, say, all christians.)

But if you must judge, than I'll quote the bible:
Matthew 5:22 "But whosoever shall say 'Thou fool' shall be in danger of hell fire."

Religion means a set of beliefs. Atheists religion is the belief there is no God. For that to really be true we as humans would have to have utter and complete wisdom and knowledge of the universe which we don't so the only truth for an atheist is to be an agnostic which meant they don't know if there is or is not a God. All you need to prove the existence of God is an ink pen.For anyting finite to exist there has to be an infinite to have brought it about. The truth behind atheism is with their belief they don't feel they have to answer to any higher authority than themselves.

I neither want nor require your pity. My faith, as it is, has as its basis in what can be proved or reasonably assumed to be true. I have faith the sun will rise tomorrow, that planted seeds will grow, that this world we live in is largely unknown but not unknowable. Religious faith, such as yours, is comparable neither in its nature nor in extent, to what I believe. It is a semantic game you play, we simply don't mean the same thing. What I call faith, you call blasphemy. What you call faith, I see as an indicator of you having sold yourself out intellectually, if not an actual sub-clinical mental illness. Faith, indeed.

Atheists believe there is no God, there is no Heaven and there is no Hell. They do not believe in an afterlife at all. They believe you get one try at life and when you die, you die. There is no being reborn, there is nothing.

There is no denial involved. Denial involves not admitting something to yourself and others. I can see how some might see it as a religion, but it isn't.

Religion involves a belief in something beyond this existence, an "ultimate reality" beyond this one. Atheists believe that what lives we live is the "ultimate reality."

You are so wrong. Why can you not accept that for some people they just cannot believe. I think that is not a conscious choice they make, its is genuine feelings. Let's not try to analyze it, just accept that people are different. It is OK to believe or not to believe. I have no doubt that most of us will cross over when we die. I am sure some will feel sad for you, because you have a closed mind and cannot accept something that if foreign to you.
