For me it would be the Gulfstream V. It can take you farther and fastest than most planes, the operating costs are quite competitive, for this kind of aircraft; can operate from small airfields and has enough room to be confortable in a long trip.

What a STUPID question! Good grief, will you people smarten up and use common sense? Okay "the best airplene" could be targeting airplane hobby enthuisiasts, business and pleasure flyers, aircraft manufactures, and a whole host of others. Well, in my eyes I think that the Embraer E-Jet series or the new boeing 787 is great. The E-Jets have seating capacity for what today's airlines need, and good fuel efficiency. The 787 is kinda the same way.

Well, that depends on what kind of flight.
If it's a short flight 1-3 hours, I'd say the Boeing 737.
If it's a medium-short flight 4-5 hours, I'd say the Boeing 757.
If it's a medium-long haul flight, the Boeing 777 or Airbus A330.
For all long haul flights (12 hours or longer), the Boeing Jumbo Jet 747.

Actually it depends on the need or requirement of the user. Every plane is different. But for a small propeller-driven airplane which you just use crosscountry, a Cessna is suitable. If you have extra money get one with a parachute attached because in case you have an engine failure, you and your plane and just parachute safely down. Unless you land on water, that's a different scenario. Cheers!

Cessna 172 Why you ask.
Because the C-172 has been in production since the early 1950's (I think I'm close on the date) and is still going strong. Best crash ratio per production numbers and that is why it is the primary training aircraft for 95% of the (U.S.) non-military training schools. Maintance is also very inexpensive as compared to most other aircraft.

The best plane for what job? Best fighter, commercial jet freighter, commercial passenger jet, military transport, bomber, ground attack, etc., etc., etc.? The answer depends on the question being much more specific.

If your asking about personal single-engine aircraft, the Mooney Acclaim is your best choice. Handcrafted to your specs.
