Yes, but keep it away from her eyes, nose, mouth and inner ears. Use a bath cloth with the shampoo on it to wash these areas and then rinse-out the bath cloth and use it to rinse these areas to be safe.

Also, rinse well as cats lick themselves obsessively after a bath and you don't want her ingesting all that flea shampoo.

If you've never given a kitten/cat a bath: do it in a sink so you can be standing. Run some water in both sinks so you don't have to turn on the water as this terrifies some cats until they get used to baths. Have a plastic cup on hand to rinse from the non-soapy sink. To keep the kitten/cat in the sink hold all four paws with your free hand, this also protects you from being clawed as they try to get away.

After the bath, wrap her in a big towel and hold her close to you like a baby and talk softly and lovingly to her -- she will more than likely go through shivers and this will be a reward and something she can always look forward to after her baths. Get her as dry as possible with the towel and make sure the room temp. isn't too cold. Then, let her go -- she will want to run away and lick forever. She should return to you after a long while and give you some "thank you" love but if she doesn't and acts "mad" at you for days -- try giving her a bath with only a bath cloth with shampoo on it until she gets used to the idea. Then slowly increase the depth of the water in the sink.

Happy bathing!!

April has given you great instructions for bathing the kitten. You don't have to use a "flea" shampoo however and risk hurting the kitten with insecticide. Dawn dishwashing soap will work just as well. The fleas will drown with either one and the soap would be safer. Use just a tiny drop of the soap or you will be rinsing the kitten forever.

She is almost old enough to use the Advantage. Get that first time from a vet so you get the dosage just right. Again, you are working with powerful poisons here and you don't want to damage your kitten.

NONONO. A lot of over the counter flea meds, shampoos, and flea collars are toxic to cats!! Especially young kittens. Go to the vet and get Advantage, Frontline or Revolution for your kitty. In the meantime, a good bath with a regular shampoo or dish soap will get rid of the fleas that are on her. A good sudsy soap and a warm bath will kill the fleas that are on her. You do not need a flea shampoo to poison your cat. The whole point of flea shampoos is that they are supposed to have some residual effect, but they don't. Once you wash them off, they don't work anymore, but if a nontoxic dishsoap or baby/kitten shampoo works just as well as flea shampoo, why poison your cat?

Wait 2 months and then give your kitten a bath. Just to be on the safe side. I did that to my cat when he was 5 months.

she should be fine as long as you keep it out of her eyes and mouth, and it would remove fleas better it you get a shampoo just for cat. Look at wal-mart or got to a pet supply store.

It shouldn't if given with care, avoid eyes and ears. However, if you took the time to go on line to ask this question, you could have just as easily picked up a phone and ask your vet. Always get your advice from a professional, licensed veterinarian. Not on line!
