Whnever I am reading something I either don't remeber what I read or don't understand. I'm a straight A student, but I feel like I'm not as smart as the other students. I have a really bad long term memory, so I can't remember anything from my previous years of school. How can I comprehend what I read quickly and remember what I read so I can catch up to the other people in my class? I also do a lot of daydreaming, which probably contributes to my "learning disability" as I am calling it. What should i do?

Well.... with all of your problems and you are still manging to get straight A's you are managing your problems well. Your problem may be that you don't have any problems, but you set your own standard so high that you can't reach it yourself.

What you learn in school is not all about facts and knowing the facts. For facts, you can always look them up. Many of the "stuff" they teach you at school is, so that you can develop your own style of thinking. They train your brain to think. This is something you cannot look it up.

Because you are getting A's I think you are being very successful at this. Talk to your teachers and get their opinions. I bet you are doing very well and very probably, you are doing far better than your peers.

This sounds normal to me, I can read a book and two days later forget the characters name. School, we all forget what we learned. We remember the things we really need to or the things that interest us the most. You probably know all the words of your favorite music album, and 10 years down the road, you can play it and still know it. I don't think you have a learning problem at all.

Whatever grade you are in you can get help.. See the school counselor and get the help you need.. It might just be that you are stressed out.. People can not comprehend what they need to when they have some many other issues on their mind... Ask for help. It might even be medication related if your on meds.

Did you know that only 10% of what is taught to you is actually learned? You are not the only one that doesn't remember what was taught last year. I learned this statistic while going to school to become a teacher at University of Michigan. I was shocked but happy to know that i wasn't the only one who can't remember everything!

I don't know what grade you're in, but if you're in high school, talk to your guidance counselor. If you're younger, talk to your teacher. Tell her everything you've told us here. She should be able to make sure you're tested for certain things.

My daughter had the same problem and they said she was ADD. Not sure if that is your problem but you might check into it. There is medication you can take.
