I would probably budget your money based on your individual circumstances. I have taken cruises in both situations & had great times...w/ money & on a tight budget. If you have a credit card, then you can just have it imprinted when you board. The add on trips are pricey in my book & I always voted for the foot tour myself and visited the islands at my own pace. On the ship there is usually plenty to do that is included, but you will have to tip EVERYONE on the ship, so beware of that!! Have fun!!

For a 4 day cruise you should bring enough money for your shopping and tips. On board expenses (Drinking etc) are usually covered by a card they give you (Like a charge card) which is settled at the end of the cruise. Usually charged back to a credit card.
Shopping and other stuff on shore is covered by cash.
You are expected to tip your waiter, asst waiter, chambermaid and possibly the matre'd. This is usually $3/day/person for the waiter $2/day/person for the asst waiter and $3/day/person for the chambermaid. The matre'd is at your discretion

In theory, if your tips and excursions are prepaid, you don't NEED any other money on a cruise. You can eat only in the places that have no additional charge, not buy any souvenirs, nor any alcoholic beverages or soda. You can not spend any other money on shore. It's do-able.

It depends on how much you want to carry!! Where you are going is also a factor. When my husband & I went, we allocated $300 per day & 10 days. We didn't always spend it but we also didn't come home without something we wanted, regretting not purchasing it. Although he did bring home some shirts I regret him purchasing, but that's just me!!!
Have a Good Trip!!!

Depends on where you are going, if you are going overseas then make sure and compensate for the exchange rate. If you plan on doing side trips and buying drinks then you would want to take more. At least 1000, maybe more

Depends on a bunch of things...Is alcohol included? (If you will be drinking...) Are you stopping on any islands? If alcohol is not included, I would say at least $150-$200 for that. If you are stopping on islands, bring money to eat (if you will be) and also to drink and buy souveniers.

Well that depends on what you want to buy or how many side trips you take, but don't forget the tips. Mucho money to tip the crew.
