i have a beagle he is 10yrs old. for bout the last week or so his front leg has been hurting him(not sure if its left or right forgot)we have been giving him motrion 4 the pain. once the motroin kicks in he is fine but if he doesnt have the motrion then it really hurts him. he cant even jump up on the bed or coach. if we lift him up it still sometimes hurts him. its also kind of hard 2 help him down cause cant watch him 24/7 2 no if he wants 2 get down. so any way if he has to have surgey that will cost $500-$1000 and we really dont have money 4 it. we all ready have 2 pay $300 4 somthing else 4 him. so i have a choice if he needs surgery my bros and i can help pay 4 it or he can live his life out or put him 2 sleep wut ever would b best 4 him. i dont no wut 2 do cause i can get the money easily (have a job and so do bros) or let him die within a year or so. i luv him and depend on 4 saftey. dont feel safe w/ out him. i will no more once he goes 2 the vet but wut should i do

tDO NOT GIVE HIM MOTRIN............YOU WILL KILL HIM!!!!!!!!!!! What makes you think he will need surgery for the leg if the Vet hasn't seen him yet. Do you have more details that you are not telling us?
If you want help, come clean and tell us exactly what is wrong!

Hello. First of all I am really sorry about your dog. It is a horrible thing to go through. We had a similar situation and let me warn you the bills may not stop after just the surgery. If there are problems in the healing process, you will have to take them back again & again. Our Vet charged for every visit totally about $3000.00. It is a lot of work after a surgery as well. 24/7 care for the dog may not be able to move for 2-4 weeks. Even after the surgeries, our dog wasn't better and we had to put her down. Her other front leg started acting up and the other never really got better. So we actually caused her 5 additional months of pain. Just be sure you are positive with your decision whatever way you go! P.S - Do not give your dog any human medication!! It can be fatal!

Instead of having him suffer through the surgery and the recovery time I'd put him down honestly. I have a cat and I'd hate to do it but it is not fair for then to go through something that hurts them and they don't understand. He's ten and lived a pretty descent life span. I know a little older would be nice but once you put the grand into him how much longer does he honestly have? A pet is a great thing but if you don't have the money to support him, it may be the best and only thing you can do for him right now.

I had a Beagle with the same problem and he was also 10 years old. The vet said it was something all Beagles go through. You might want to get another vet's opinion. I don't know of any surgery that will make him young again. Your vet might be after your money. The Motrin is only going to make it worse in the long run. The dog needs to deal with the pain. It is confusing for him to be in and out of pain. He is only going to hurt himself further. Good luck.

TAKE him to the vet and find out whats wrong with his leg. Dont let him suffer and hurt! U would go to the doc if ur leg was hurting u!!! It "might" not come down to having him put to sleep?
Wont know till u take him in?
Good luck!

Depends on how much you love your dog. Everyone feels differently about vet bills, maybe they will work with you, then again maybe it's just something simple. You could be worrying to much.Take one day at a time until you know what is wrong with him.

Motrin is not good for dogs. Take him to a vet that will work out a payment program. NOW

Responsible pet ownership involves making decisions for an animal that he can not make for himself. As difficult as it may be, at some point you may have to decide to end his suffering by having him humanely put to sleep. It is a hard thing to do.

Talk to the vet about a payment plan, or ask him If HE knows of another vet willing to do payment installments

I know that Advil is harmful to pets. try a feed store & get DMSO ointment. It goes on the skin. It helped one dogs artheritis (spelling!) Sometimes medicine catalogs list DMSO. IT really helped me with a black eye once.
