If we are to believe scientists and the moon was closer to earth at that time which would have made Eclipses much darker than what we have now, five hours. Say from 5 pm till 10pm which that close to the equator is total night.

The sun shone clearly until midday, when suddenly it seemed to be blotted out. At the ninth hour the darkness lifted from the people.
The "ninth hour" is 3:00 P.M. so my guess would be about 3 hours of eclipse type darkness.
