The answer to your question is YES! They do it all the time here especially on holidays. Lake McConaughy is just 7 mile north of here and on major summer holidays they send most of them to the lake to patrol. They have State patrol, sheriff, game commission and city police and they all write tickets.

it depends what their jurisdiction...REALLY is...
If you were in something like a tunnel or a bridge that crosses the borderline it could be something as simple as the city and the county have a worked deal about direction of traffic. If you were bound out of the city in the direction of the county or next city, then they could very well still be in their jurisdiction and vice versa for the other into the city. Also if the city police officer is "in persuit" of a fleeing (witness) to a crime that began within their jurisdiction, their might be a court case over it, but usually a case like that would conclude to the pursuant officer. Other jurisdictions might take over the pursuit within their jurisdiction or even apprehension and then it gets tricky *wink*

fairly the cop s outside of there jurisdiction, although some police are given police powers thorughout the state and hence can provide a cost tag everywhere in Florida. also maximum cities have agreements with neighbor jurisdictions that enable them to boost there jurisdiction a million mile outside of the city or county limits.

If you are pursued out of the city limits, they have full jurisdiction. In addition, they might have a reciprocity agreement with the county in which they have authority on traffic tickets. It depends on where you live.

If the violation occurs within their jurisdiction and they give chase outside to serve the ticket (such as when a motorist stops and then flees after the incident begins), or if they are in hot pursuit, yes. But they can't just go to another area and write them, no.

Not to write traffic tickets however, they still have police authority to enforce misdemeanors/felonies anywhere within the state should the offense rise to that level.
