I don't want to lose or gain weight..I just want to maintain my shape, but sometimes I don't have a very big appetite..so I would like to know what is the least amount of calories you can have a day without putting your body through starvation mode?

You are at a very low weight (84% ideal body weight, putting you into an anorexic weight range). Your question also concerns me...asking about the least amount of calories. Chances are, if you are already restricting, your body already IS in starvation mode. You would need to increase your caloric intake in order to jump start your metabolism.

What's your relationship with food and body like? If you are eating when hungry and stopping when full, that's a good sign. If you are restricting your caloric intake to maintain a lower weight, this will slow down your metabolism.

If you are struggling, I encourage you to find help and support. You deserve it. You shouldn't have to be in such pain.

This is hard to say, because everyone is different. Being you're so young, you are still needing alot of vitamins and nutrients, so when you do get hungry I hope you're eating the right things, if you aren't you'll suffer for it later on.
I'm on staff at a gym and we just watched a dvd from the Nation Center of Disease Control, and they were saying that kids your age aren't eating the right things, or drinking enough milk, so because of this your generation will be getting diabetes earlier than our generation, osteoporosis, heart disease, high blood pressure, and so on. Be sure you eat the right things, because your body is still growing and maturing and the bones need calcium and your body needs proteins for your muscles to develop nicely.
You shouldn't be worrying about calories at your age, you should be eating and having fun, go girl!

It depends on how active you are each day. If you are active in sports, ride bikes, walk a lot... you body needs more calories to maintain your current weight than if you are a couch potato, and younger people tend to burn calories faster (normally) than older people.

There are some good web sites you can research to find out approximately what someone your age, weight and height should consume to maintain your current weight and adjust it week by week so that you maintain your current weight

Oh.... god 1200 is absolutely the least recomended, and 1200 energy is incredibly low. Please do no longer do this to your self. starving is stupid. you're able to initiate by lowering your calorie intake by 15 to 20 %. enable's say you have 2400 energy an afternoon, then you definitely could initiate aiming for 1900 to 2000 energy in step with day.

This varies depending on many factors such as weight, height, active levels, goals etc. If you don't eat enough it can be counter-productive. You're body thinks it's starving and begins holding on to all the fat it can to survive. As a rule, 5 small meals a day is recommended to speed up metabolism.

Multiply your body weight by 15, eat above that amount of calories and you will gain, eat below, you will lose, eat around that amount and you will maintain.
