for me that is a good question and I rated it such. Maybe you for one are starting to search for the real truth. If so keep it up.
In my view God did invent time as a sign to all in his creation to learn from. My God does not need time for with him sequence and order is sufficient because He is complete and can not change or be changed.
Humankind for one does change and goes through a change. Time is only a unit of measure that does mark the fact that a change is pending. When Mr Adam did eat the fruit, a change was declared to be the results if such was accomplished. Likewise this change was given a time factor and thus the need was put in place that did require a unit of measure. The declared result of eating the fruit was death within a day.
If you read Genesis 1:3-5 you will see a day is defined but no time element or unit of measure is in place. I Gen 1:16-18 the provisions for time measure and signs were put in place as a potential. Mr Adam did activate this potential by eating the fruit and must die within a day which is defined in the bible. Mr Adam did die within the 1,000 years, the longest listed time for 1 day,
My Friend that is my view and you can of course have your own or consider others. That is your option.
Just have a great day and keep asking these searching questions with a smile.

God created time as the defining border of His creation, like a frame around a painting.
It contains the painting, clearly defines where it is and where it isn't, makes it easier to observe, and allows it to be stored or displayed properly in a larger context.
This creation (the painting), which God knew beforehand would be corrupted, is limited to a time domain, therefore the corruption will not 'leak' into eternity. As beings of a dual existence (temporal and eternal), we may view the creation more clearly if we look through 'eternal' eyes, and allows us to understand this life more clearly in the context of eternity.

people here are saying that man invented time, however this lies in your meaning of time. If time to you is ,say ,a number then yes man invented time, but if time is to you the passing away of seconds and aging, then god invented time because he created the worlds.
God created time so that things could die and that life would not be an infinite span of eternity..

From the Muslim perspective, God created Time out of his Wisdom which we will never be able to fully comprehend.
But in the context of our own lives, there is a lot we can say about the reason that God created Time, namely that He created Time from His Mercy so that we would be able to exist.
We can look at Time as a mercy of God because, as you said, God does not need Time, so he created it only to benefit his creation.

He didn't, He gave man the ability to discover a unit of time. Think about it, in the beginning there was no time, then many different civilizations began to formulate their own measures of time with the sun dial and with months and years eventually. Man created time, man is constrained by it. God knew this would all come to be so He made it dark at the time when our bodies need rest and light so that we can see everything around us. He provides us with what we need at certain times, but we are the ones who assigned hours, days, months, and years.

Without time there could be no progress, no change. The world would have remained fixed, exactly the way it was created. There would have been no demonstration of God's mercy toward us.

Time is mans invention dear. We are mortal and therefor we measure things. We notice the change in seasons and in weather and that gives us a sense of direction. If we were immortal, time would not be an issue.
