I'm British, so it's maybe a product of my upbringing, but I've ALWAYS opened a door for a girl, whether they're my date or not. Although women like to do the 'self-sufficient' thing - y'know :"how dare you open that door for me - I'm a woman not an invalid!," secretly I'm sure every woman loves it. I've always received a smile when I've moved forward to a door and then held it open for a woman, especially those who naturally assume that I'm getting to the door first because I want to go through it first.

As far as dates go, I've always made a point of unlocking the car door for my date and then opening the door for her, waiting for her to get in and then closing the door. It's only a little thing, but it shows manners and respect right from the word go, and I think it always gets a favourable reaction, which always helps, especially on the first few dates!

I've never opened a door for my date. I suppose I could give it a try. It makes me feel kind of weird when guys open doors for me, mostly because I'm not used to it, but I think it's a sweet thing to do.

If I'm entering/leaving a restaurant or public place, I expect my husband to open the door for me. I'll stand there all day until he does lol

I'll open the car door myself, though.

I am a nice lesbian girl and I always try to open the door for my date unless she gets there first then she usually opens it. We lesbians are much less complicated I guess.

5 years? it truly is truly a lengthy time period. after I first examine this question, i presumed you may propose a guy who would not attempt to apply "advances" (kissing, etc.) on you to expose that they truly do care about you. even as they truly do not open the doors for you, i do not imagine it truly is that massive of a deal. that's a touch impolite, yet no longer something to strive against over. you may straightforward tell him you may want to savour it if he does carry the door. possibly supply him a hug or a kiss even as he does? yet, if he's adamant about no longer doing that, basically ignore about it. it truly is not any longer properly worth arguing about. =D

I would hope that chivalry isn't dead.
I was taught to always open a door for a lady .
As far as I remember I've always held a door for my girlfriend
( now my wife ). I still do !!

I feel weird about having doors opened for me. This happened alot when I was in college, because there were alot of guys there, more so than girls.

i do it for my girlfriend and she does it for me. As a matter of fact, I'll open the door for just about anybody. I think it's just polite, but don't drive like an twit around me though.
