I much prefer a standard library in almost any situation. I adore books, and love to browse bookstores and my public library, particularly when they have cozy chairs to curl up and read in.

They are also an excellent place to have quiet to work. Often, when I did research through an online library, I would get distracted by the internet. Distractions were readily available and it made it hard to focus.

There's so much good material that just isn't available online, due to copyright restrictions. Libraries are an absolute wealth of reputable knowledge-- anyone can post whatever they want on the net, but it's hard to get a book printed without being accurate!

You need a library with a physical space to have access to those materials that are not produced in electronic form. For example, although many professional journals are moving to an electronic format, there are some that do not have electronic versions and most "back issues" of journals are not kept in electronic form. Likewise many books, reference texts, maps, goverment documents, and other materials that are available at the traditional library that are not available in electronic form. Finally, no "virtual" librarian can ever replace a very skilled reference librarian/information specialist.

When I wished to browse through material, rather than search for something I'd already identified.
When I wanted to view really high quality illustrations.
Paper-and-ink books have generally been edited, and if issued by a university-affiliated publisher, may have been further peer-reviewed. Website content is subject to no rules at all.

It's also not especially pleasant to try and read a PC in bed.

To do an in-depth study of a subject. Also, there is a joy in holding a book and reading it, that that the internet cannot imitate. Each is useful in its own way.

P.S. There are lots of references at the back of books in the library that lead you to more sources of info (references).

I would go to a standard library any time... I'd rather have something with a cover that I can put down & go do something else & come back to it and not have to load the page again.
