accepted by your religion until 1978? I have heard that many older mormons still believe that blacks do not have souls. This is pretty sick. How can you justify this?

well first they will come back with something like their prophet said it was ok now, even though the older prophets said it would never change and then they will say that you should log onto their site to be properly educated about their religion.
It is sort of like Polygamy, that only went away because they would have been denied statehood but they will come up with something else to explain that to which we all know is a crock. But they will try.

The Jehovah Witnesses didn't believe blacks could be in the 144000 either. Now I see them out witnessing, so their policy must have changed also. The JW,s also have set dates for the end of the world that didn't happen. Stick with Christian churches.

I don't believe any white churches accepted black ministers in their churches at all during that time. And by the way they were able to be memebers, just not Bishops...just like women...we still aren't able...but we have important roles. Now there are great African-American Bishops, I have had the opportunity to be in a church where one African-American guy preached.

We didn't not accept them, they just weren't permitted to have the Priesthood.
No Mormon should think that anyone doesn't have a soul. We are taught that everyone is created equal.

I was a Mormon back in those days.. I can tell you it was something they did in the pre-existence that made them second class. Looking back at it I an ashamed of that part of myself. When I became a christian I learned that a black man was the first non Jew to become a christian. This was very liberating to me it showed me that God loves all mankind. I praise God for the grace he gave me pulling me out of bigotry and error and into His light and into His family to be His child with peoples from every walk of life from ever color under heaven.. He is such a Great Father, and a God worthy of our praise...Jim

There's no justification for it. All people have souls. But I wouldn't spend too much time on it. Go find a church that accepts you for who you are and doesn't teach something unbibilical.

Why would you join a religion that admittedly have "whie" & "Black" churches to begin with. Sounds like their religion isn't working out too well for them...

Come to Islam...

They think that Cain was cursed with a mark (they added in that the "mark" was black skin) and that his children inherited the "mark"
