Winzip is an archiving program that can take a bunch of files (i.e. Word Documents, computer programs, etc.) and compress them into 1 file to a smaller size (to the best of its ability) to make it easy to burn onto something like a CD or if its really small a floppy disk.
With videos and music though it doesn't do that great of a job making them smaller. For free alternative to Winzip try looking for one at Sourceforge or Downloads.com

Winzip is an Archiving program for Windows. And archiving program attempt to compress and files to make them smaller, and will allow all the files to be store in a single file, for easier transferring.
Winzip is a simple GUI interface, and also has a friendly wizard that will step you through the process of zipping and unzipping the files.

Win Zip is a free program that unzips files for you. Example: You download a game from a website that is 'zipped' to condense it's size. Use win-zip to 'unzip' the file and install it. Great product, and free

It "zips" or "unzips" your files.
Basically makes files smaller so they can be downloaded and uploaded faster, they you use the program Win-zip to un-zip them and get the file out.
I download game Roms all the time, you can "unzip" them to get the game out...although I heard you don't have to...
To get win-zip, go to www.download.com and search it up
