I see so much hatred in these questions about religion, even coming from a few who claim to follow Jesus. I am a Christian, and because of that, I follow Jesus' example of how to treat others. He wasn't hateful toward those who hated Him. Generally people who look beyond personal beliefs and see another human being who deserves respect, are happier and able to communicate more effectively with others. Hate only closes doors to communication. If you have something worthwhile to say, why not say it without anger and insults?

This is an excellent question, of which I hope everyone reads and answers honestly instead of sarcastically.

Yes because even though you and I are Christian, and even if we followed the same denomination we still would not believe 100% exactly the same.

By being repestful of anothers belief does not mean that you have to convert to their way of thinking. But claiming to be a certain religion and then bashing anothers only proves that the beliefs you hold are not as strong as you claim they are.

Respect is reserved for those who are respectful.

Though this is only my opinion, as yours may differ.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I am a christian also. We can't be a good example if we are rude and cruel to others. I never could bring myself to say to another human being some of the things I see on here. God is love, and if we follow Jesus and His teachings, we have to show love also.

I generally agree, except for people who draw first blood. They deserve to be pummeled mercilessly.

But here's the problem. Let's say you quote your holy book to tell me I'm a fool or a swine that you shouldn't cast pearls before (apparently, pearl casting was a popular pastime in the first century), or to tell me I'm brimstone fodder if I disagree with you. Like it or not, that is institutionalized disrespect not of my position, but of me personally.

Now what if I tell you Jesus never even existed and the Catholic church invented the city of Nazareth hundreds of years later to hide the inconvenient fact that it didn't exist? Odds are you will take that as a personal affront. Ok, maybe not. Now what if I tell you there is linguistically no difference between what we normally call "stupidity", and Paul's definition of "faith"? How can you not take that personal? I indirectly called you stupid.

Yet my intent was not to insult you personally, but rather, to attack the very concept of faith upon which all your religious beliefs rest.

So while what you say sounds good, in practice it's easier said than done. I will not squelch my position in the slightest simply to placate the emotions of others.

I wish you have been here long enough to have read most of my answers with regards to what you hope should have been going on in this site. "RESPECT". When I first joined in I immediately asked my self, "why am I here?" And why it seems that there is always anger and insults on every question of belief or non-belief. I wanted then to really stop at once and I said this is not what I want. I want to learn and I want to share. Few times I can't help but retort to insult with insult and threat with threat but I realized it is not going to help me or everyone in anyway. So, I am still here answering and wishing someday all of us who are here are asking questions in pursuit of knowledge answering for the purpose of learning from each other and trying our best not be carried out by strong emotions that tends us to insult, threat and destroy one another. I thank you for your question and I share with you the same wish and hope.

God is love, and we are to all be as Jesus has tried to teach us about loving each other, and forgiveness. It would be so wonderful if the whole world was as God had in mind for us, but we aren't going to see that until we get to heaven. Satan has the run of things on this earth, unless we stay in God's word and in prayer we can easily fall into hate, and anger. The only time I had seen in the bible that Jesus became angry, was when the merchants was using God's house of prayer and worship for selling their merchandise and being disrespectfull to God. We can only pray for those who don't understand and pray that we stay in God's grace.

people become so brainwashed by their religions that they think that their religion is the only right one. don't you think that if you are a genuinly good person you should be respected and liked? only till someone tells someone of their religion do they know. it is not written on our foreheads tere for it becomes a way to not like someone or to fight with them because what you think it "right" ahd what they think isn't. I think that if everyone left everyone else alone about religious beliefs this world and notjust the usa would be so much better. think aobut it why do we fight in the middle east? religion... right? people need ot mind their own business and let everyone believe how they want to, not how you want them to.

i imagine everybody is insecure of their own fragile beliefs, so that they attempt to attain means by technique of attacking and ridiculing others. And the solutions right here furnish you with an outstanding party of in basic terms what i'm speaking about. One sophomoric baby generalizes each and each and every of the dedicated to a idea in speaking donkeys, and tries to apply that lame slam as justification for ridiculing others about whom he knows no longer some thing. and obviously would not opt to attraction to close some thing. there is also the truth that the mind contained in the human species takes about thirty years to augment totally the better orders of reasoning. childrens who're, for the first time of their lives, fairly attempting to attempt adverse to with the numerous heavy questions, yet having few information and little adventure in parsing those questions, get seduced by technique of the simplistic ****-positive solutions which contain fundamentalism and "atheism." childrens get an theory and by some means imagine that no human being has ever had such an theory before. it truly is a been of a downer to imagine that mom and pa had those similar innovations many years in the past and characteristic lengthy in view that grown out of them. less complicated to believe junior has discovered some thing unique for the first time in recorded heritage. fairly what's quite going on is the idea techniques of a mind no longer yet totally advanced. i look ahead to the thumbs downs from each and each and every of the toddlers. bypass for it, childrens.

this Pagan would agree with you on that.

i think that too many people look to the old testiment of the bible to justify their personnel prejustice against other people.

it does not seem that many christians actually follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. if they did they would be tolerant...no loveing of people that are differant than them.

i think that Jesus cries in heaven for the things that are done in his name....
