before I go to the police I'd like to know if there are laws against too much barking. Maybe he will put the dogs in or something before it really gets ugly. Nice didn't work, land lady, didn't help...

Details-AHHH YES! I almost shot the dang thing with a nail gun. Unfortunately, I don't have a phone, we live in the city. I guess that the first step would be to go to the police & ask what can be done. I got grins out of some of the suggestions!

The dogs did get out once, he tracked them down-as_ hole accused me! Funny that our dog started jumping the fence 3 days later! I wonder where he learned THAT from.

Yes theres a noise ordinance law! I have been through the same situation with a neighbors dog too. All i done was called the police station... not 911.... but the local number and tell them the problem. They should come over to the neighbors house and tell them to keep their dog quite or he will be put in a kennel. It's a kinda bad punishment for a dog thats only doing what it was born to do - bark - but its pretty fair if its keeping you from sleeping and relaxing... sometimes even eating.
Nice avatar by the way!! love it!!

I say keep your mouth shut! And watch them like a hawk. The first time they leave to go ANYWHERE and leave the dog outside, you just happen to come over for some reason might have gotten a piece of their mail and left the gate open. Poor spot ran away. If hes chained, unchain him and let him chase those cars. Also you can offer to dog watch and loose him on a walk one day. You'd be very sorry that their dog ran off at the beach thats 20 miles away. You get what I mean? Don't say anything to them or the police. They wont help and neither will the cops. Just make nice with the neighbors and wait for your moment.

Most places do have ordinances against barking dogs or at least noise ordinances. You could talk with your neighbors about it and ask if they could do anything to quiet them down. I mean in a non-confrontational way. Don't accuse or get a tone. We keep our dogs inside our house because someone called the police on us one time because of one occasion where they were in our backyard for an afternoon. Ours only bark when people are walking around our yard. If their dogs are outside you can squirt them with a water gun and tell them no just don't let the neighbors see you do it.

Usually it falls under a noise ordinance and it will be a low priority call. My brothers friends parents received so many complaints about their dog, they ended up facing hefty fines if they didn't remove the voicebox. The dog now doesn't bark at all. Extreme situation, but yes...usually there are laws.

yes most do...but unfortunatly you have to call in a complaint(to the police or city ) and do it every time the dogs bark constanty and after the set amount of complaints and nothing changing they can seize the animal b/c it is considered a nusance....good luck...some people have to be delt this way...that is why there are laws...hope you do not have anything to give them fire with...alot of people feel treatened in these situations and try to counter sue or do something illeagal...so deside how annoying is it ...and make an educated choice :)

Just remember, you live next door to these people. If you decide to get nasty with them about their dogs, they can be just as nasty back... Yes, if you are within city limits, there is probably a noise ordinance. Talk to your other neighbors to see if they are bugged by it to.
