I got fired once fo rnot having prayer services with the owners and empoyees every morning. I was young and nicer to them than they were to me. However if this were to happen agian I amsure I would enjoy mu retirement off of the company doing the firing.
YOU want to fire someone over religious reasons go for it. Don't be surprised when you get served for the lawsuit. Only the lowest of lowest would fire good employees for being an theist. or of another religion.
Another company in the same area fired a muslim because he would not join then in praising jesus, I think he got an out of court settlement of $600,000 .
You go ahead and fire him:)

1st Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

In other words, you CAN fire him... Just prepared to be heavily sued. Discriminating based on religion/race/sexual orientation/etc is not tolerated in the eyes of the law.

Hey, didn't Jesus say Love thy neighbor? Are you a hypocrit? Did you know that that is religious discrimination, and you could be sued in every state in the US if you were to fire him for such a reason? I know many atheists, and many of them still hold to good and decent morals, even if they don't believe in god. If you were to fire him for such a thing your own creator would consider that a sin my friend. An we all know that St. Peter knows all our trespasses against our neighbors, and we will all be judged before him. Even if we don't believe such, it's a simple truth, this is a test, a test of decency and goodwill toward one another. If however he does cause your fears then he would be violating at least one or more of your company policies. Deal with him as you would a stray sheep from your own flock. Less god does frown upon your hate for one of his creation.

Maybe your hiring practices need to be revised. Now that you have entered into an agreement of employment with this individual unless you are in New York State which is an "at will" state, you have little to do but maintain his employment with you regardless of how you may feel. If you are in New York, you can dismiss the employee for any reason you so choose as long as there is no evidence it was for a discriminatory practice.

That is discrimination in the eyes of the existing anti-discrimination law. Atheist may differ in your faith but unless he is what you say he may do, you have to have some grounds for disciplinary actions if you find he is doing what you think is not right for the company but always be careful to look into all angles of legalities. Evil is delicate subject to accuse anyone of.

You fire a person if they are not doing their job. If you fire her/him for the reasons you're stating, you'll have a lawsuit on your hands.

I am so glad that I do not work for you! I'm not an atheist, but I do not have a narrow-minded employer...thank God!

In the United States, no... there's an act that prevents people to be fired for their religious or political beliefs. I would be like firing him because he was black, white, hispanic, etc.

this is America isn't it? Doesn't a man havet he right to believe in whatever religion(even if it's no religion) he wan'ts? or do we want to be like the Taliban and condemn any one who doesn't believe the way you do?Do you really think Jesus would fire this person, or turn on his love light even brighter?
