First of all, the vast majority of them DON'T fight.

Those who fight aggressively are simply not following the teachings of those religions they allegedly adhere to.

Just like we issue drivers licenses...it doesn't mean all drivers obey every law at all times and drive in a safe manner.

I think that for certain sub-groups of Christianity and Islam, it is a problem of collective amnesia. In the case of Christianity, it's the exhortation of turning the other cheek from the Sermon on the Mount. In Islam, it's the exhortation that "people of the book" should be under the protection of Muslims. (That Islam spread so quickly in its first century was in part because of Christians being persecuted by other Christians seeking protection under Muslim armies.)

Before Judaism became a universal religion, it certainly had a bloody history (ask the Amalekites). After the Babylonian Captivity and the beginnings of rabbinical Judaism, I think that Jews were simply seeking to be left alone, but were willing to defend themselves.

In short, all three Abrahamic faiths are peaceful religions, at least when it comes to interacting with each other. Unfortunately, there are rogue elements of all three that provide fodder for sceptics to use as justification for their particular atheistic religion.

The ones that fight are the ones that are not holding true to their own religion but are fighting in the name of religion. Both the muslim and christian religions teach goodness and peace.

Hello imlaura2006.. :)

Yes, religion is supposed to to about peace, Love, joy, kindness, gentleness, forgiveness and humility..but many have strayed from their first Love, Jesus..

In doing so, they go back to their old ways of hatred, racism, greed, anger and selfishness..

Jesus said we are to Love our neighbors as ourselves..to pray for those that despite fully use us..we are not to repay evil for evil..but rather repay evil with Love.. :)

I pray I answered your question..

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

Not ALL Christians fight, just the fundamentalist, that are self righteous, and have their rules they go by. I don't have an extra set of rules to go by, just the Bible.

Because ego gets in the way. Ego is what causes the sense of separation from each other instead of the oneness of us all.
